I've never had a GPS on a sports and handheld GPS

I can't compare it to any other make or model as it's the only GPS I've ever had. I think this is a great entry-level model for a lot less money than I expected. Garmin is generally rated higher than other brands and I know people who own and love Garmin products. This model, as other reviewers have said, does not give the names of the streets. He will tell you to turn left after 100 feet, but he will not tell you that this is the main road. It includes street names on the display, which is…

Highly recommended product

The Garmin Nuvi 205 is easy to use, the screen is bright and clear and it met my expectations. Since it's not a "W" version, it only comes with an ABC keyboard (that's probably its biggest downside). Read on to find out how to change it. If you want to change it to a QWERTY keyboard, just copy the British_English*.* files to your text folder as Qwerty*.* and then edit the Qwerty.gtt file with Notepad. Changing the "lang" and "desc" texts to "QWERTY" and changing the keymap order (you can also…

DEATH IN 8 MONTHS - WARRANTY? MAY BE .

Bottom line: You must pay shipping back to Garmin with an RMA number before they will work under warranty. It may take a few hours or more for you to issue an RMA number. The first Garmin Nuvi worked well so it was the same as my wife's last January. Although kept in her car and only used a couple of times, after 7 or 8 months it stopped working. No problem as the warranty is one year until you try to get the Garmin working. It took several calls to Garmin to wade through their menus before the

Very important! holds GPS, finder and accessories

I recently made a trip from Idaho to Northern California and found this little GPS to work great. I was a bit tired of the purchase after reading other reviews but figured I'd do it anyway. The screen is a decent size, the window mount is very easy and secure, and the screen hardly glares the driver (as long as it's facing you). This brought us back and forth with very minor hiccups. I like the gas station feature as sometimes it can be difficult to find gas stations in unfamiliar cities. There

Nuvi 205 - great performance, plus 255 and 1450 models

Nuvi 205 is a significant improvement over the Nuvi 200. It has a faster processor and more features. With the 200, the speed is not displayed when navigating, but with the 205 it is and the speed limit for normal motorways is displayed. It also groups favorite places like food into folders, so you don't have to search for all your favorites. You can even create a folder like Friends or Parks. It works just as well as 255, except the street name isn't pronounced. You have to look up at the…

Great entry level GPS

For my first car GPS this is a great device. There are clear directions and advance notices, but no street names. It updated well with Garmin software and arrived with all 2009 maps already installed (thanks Revain). You can use it immediately (comes with brackets, car cable and a small manual). The main roads were correct but some local roads were not. My home address and street address are in the wrong place, but that is consistent with Mapquest and Google Maps. It also doesn't yell at you if

AWESOME!: GPS, finder and accessories

It was a great investment. Perhaps the interface could be easier to use, but to make it easier to use would probably require a larger block or a block with more parts (e.g. a keyboard). However, it's still a fairly easy device to use. I found no problem with not saying street names. I used to use my Verizon Navigator, which speaks street names; and I kept checking my phone to read the street names. I have a very small problem that you can't use this to navigate if you only have the city name…
