Looks like a quality gas cap

Turns out it works pretty much the same as the old gas cap, but without the handy plastic tether that the original Toyota cap attached to the Prius. Both seem to loosen up after a few days so I just tighten them every few days. If you drive a Prius, you know it can be a week between trips to the gas station where you unscrew the cap after adding gas to the tank. So I just drag it every few days and it's ok.

Think twice: Gas cap

Easy to install? Yes. The price of money? I do not think so. I tried this because of the reliable Gates brand, but the cap was too loose to cover the fuel spray. The check engine light kept coming on after resetting until I tried another replacement. I felt it seat properly after a few clicks, and the warning light went out after about an hour of riding. When I tried to return it the seller wouldn't even return it and refunded my money. Seeing this surprised me and made me think about the value

Great replacement fuel cap

I had a check engine light on my 2006 Scion TC and that was all I had to replace to get rid of that check engine light. If your check engine light is on and the gas cap isn't closing tight, that's probably all you need. Auto repair shops charge around $150 for diagnosis. Before you pay that money, put the gas cap back on and wait a few days to see if the check engine light goes out. This cap fits well, the only thing is that it doesn't have a lanyard to connect it to your car. In addition, it…

Great hat! Best in Hats

I bought this for my 2009 Scion tC. After the engine light came on, I thought it was serious. I took it to my trusted mechanic and he told me it was probably just a gas cap. I removed the old cover and put the new one on. I reset the code on my car and the light hasn't come on since. It was very cheap and this cap lasted me for a while. It may not have a seat belt, but you don't need one. I've never left my hat on the roof of my car and I'm definitely a forgetful person. I would definitely buy…

Made in the USA and works great

If you are expecting a product made in China you may be disappointed; My hat was made in the USA. I was warned that Toyota is notoriously gas gap sensitive and that only genuine parts should be used. But Gates is a very reputable manufacturer of rubber parts and likely makes the hoses and accessory straps that your mechanic uses. So when I repeatedly got code 442 (minor evaporator leak) and the "petroleum jelly on rubber seal trick" didn't work, I decided this cap was worth a try. Problem…

My check engine light turned off

I thought I had a serious problem with my 2006 Scion Tc - ignition sensor might be faulty - but the mechanic used a diagnostic scanner said there are minor problems and the light could be caused by one be triggered by a defective gas cap, so I installed this. He turned off the check engine light and it didn't come on again after about 200 miles of driving. This inexpensive cover doesn't have a cable, so I removed the cable that was on the old cover, cut it to fit the new one, and taped it in…

Update: f. hurts too. Fits great, works as expected

UPDATE 01/12/2020 A little over 2 years later I have to replace this gas cap for the same reason. In this case I decided to buy a real OEM. I've tried several ways to ensure a good seal, but to no avail. Was still having issues with CEL until the new restriction this month. Replacing this cover eliminated the bugs. So I downgraded the rating to 2 stars. Since all of the lights on my 4Runner's dashboard started flashing at the same time, a quick investigation revealed that the gas cap was…
