This leash in a medium sized set broke on the second use. It can be good for a foam board in a 2ft surfboard. But in 5ft waves I don't think it will last long. I didn't notice any scratches, cuts or damage. This was literally the second use of the leash.

I've been using this leash for almost 2 years now! I have a white one and it's on my lost jumper since I bought the board. He's been through many hard wipes and never came close to breaking. I took him into a big 8 foot hurricane in Florida with this thing and never lost a board. The ankle cuff is very comfortable and the twisted features keep the leash to a minimum. Highly recommended! I'm doing this review because I've seen a few bad reviews and I just want to say that these cases must be an accident. I've been using these leashes for several years and have never had any problems. I surf the waves regularly and I think I snapped an old leash and I'm pretty sure one was cut off my fin. I was in Mexico a few months ago and had to turn in my board for huge 20ft sets! I was completely confused, I thought I was going to die, but the leash didn't break.

The leash is well made and survived the heaviest hurricane surf this summer in New Jersey where my board got pulled out of my hands a few times and I was strapped on under multiple make- up-sets dipped to my ankle and the leash fully taut closer to the shore. The board never snapped and I never stepped on the leash while surfing. Would have been 5 stars but the ankle strap is thinner than the leashes I usually use and therefore a little less comfortable. This is a durable, well-made surf lead. I highly recommend it. I'm a bodysurfer and the leash that came with my board was probably a meter long. I'm 6'4 and should have gotten a longer leash straight away. After asking around, I heard about the Ho Stevie brand and made a purchase. It's definitely worth it! I've surfed this 9' leash 22 times in the last 20 months. It was used in tiny surfs, no more than 3 feet. Most sessions were 1-2 and limp messes. You know, it's fun to travel a distance. Today surfing 1-2 feet the leash ripped at the ankle, it ripped completely. This wasn't caused by the fin as I would have known if the fin cut a few inches off my leg. It just didn't work. From day one the leash was quite uncomfortable. The padding was missing and the width of the velcro and padding was a joke.

My problem with all the lines before that is that when they are twisted so the string isn't aligned backwards and I adjust this underwater, the inner tab that wraps around your leg first, sometimes into the inside of the cuff rolls . With 15 seconds until the next bomb hits my head, I don't want to waste a few of those seconds trying to get rid of that really nasty bump. Oh Stevie's leash slips over my ankle without a lump.
