Works great but too expensive.

This is a Honeywell water detector add-on that works great in our basement. I ran it under a large window that sometimes leaks in heavy rain and it was small enough to fit under the baseboards. With this extension, I was able to run the entire length under the window, so any leak would be spotted immediately. The only negative is the price, I think it should be at least half what I paid. But it works and does a great job so I'm only deducting 1 star for the price.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Not sure

[[ASIN:B004FTFQ4W Honeywell RWD80/T Water Protection Alarm Extension Cable with Water Sensor Cable works but does not lay completely flat on the floor. If the little adhesive fasteners really stuck, the problem would be solved. The fasteners that come with the Honeywell RWD41 device itself are different, they are larger, don't have a center hole and hold better. The hole in the fastener that comes with the extension is too big. Finding a nail with a large head and a small shank is not an easy…

Use with Raspberry Pi/HomeBridge - DIY leak/flood sensor

Seems I'm not the only one with this idea. Viewing the reviews shows several different options for this solution. In my case I have a Raspberry Pi with HomeBridge. Using GPIO 5VDC, GND and I/O pin. I am connected to the YL-38 module. I then convert its control pins to (female) ethernet. If you're familiar with any of the things I just mentioned, you're the target audience for this review. SUPER EASY installation. As. No joke. Insanely easy. The humidity sensor cable uses a 4-wire cable. Middle…

Good product, unlimited use Honeywell

This was the perfect accessory for the system I was building to monitor the pump room. This is a remote location and therefore audible alarms were not possible. For flood detection, I paired this with a GEREE 12V Soil Moisture Sensor Control Module, an automatic watering module. I am using a relay output to connect to a zone on an ethernet enabled alarm panel to send text messages to cell phones, it works great. To connect the module I used a standard phone cord fitted with a standard phone…

EXCELLENT SENSOR CABLE EXTENSION with a pair of taps

The extension cable comes in a reel with 9 ground clips to secure the cable to the ground - I didn't use any of these clips - I used 5 small strips of good quality High quality fiberglass reinforced packing tape. Before installing I ran an 8ft cable and hung it in a warm place for 24 hours to remove the loops so it lays flat. For Installation - I removed the original 4 foot sensor cable that came with Honeywell's RWD41 Water Defense water sensor and set it aside for future use with a second…

Used to extend the range of my wireless water sensors

I have wireless water sensors in every bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, under every fridge and kettle. However, due to the limited coverage area of my water sensor points, I wanted to monitor a larger area for each sensor. My research led me to this cable, which I used to extend the detection range of each sensor. It requires some DIY skills, but it's not difficult. Other people have commented on similar usage, so read questions and reviews. The main reason for my purchase is that the cable is…
