It's crap, but can be made useful.

The packaging sucks. But a few spacers made it a useful tool post. I hope the attached photos tell the story. But basically there is so much dirt in the dovetail that you'll be surprised how the tool holder actually stays in place once tightened. But a gasket glued to the stand under the dovetail works quite well (just one for each instrument position). I think my pads were around 20k thick but I'm sure you need to find what's right for you. Also, each tool holder has a slightly different fit…

Worth the money though.

I know this QCTP has mixed reviews but the kit I received was well packaged and test runs were successful. Time will tell but I am happy with my new tool holder for my Grizzly 7x14 mini lathe. UPDATE 10/2018. I've had this qctp for about two years now. It works and is worth the price. Now I'm going to use steel QCTP and holders. Aluminum isn't hard enough for me. Knocking and sometimes breakage of the inserts seems to be more common with an aluminum post. The mini lathe needs to be a tight fit…

A good tool for 3% of the cost

Very pleasantly surprised. Not flimsy at all and cheap to build. Well done with finished edges and matching gaps. The only modification I made was to stick brass thumbscrews in a lathe and shave off a millimeter or so. But that was only because I use 12mm tools. I could use it as is but wanted an extra room. The included hardware worked perfectly on my eBay 7x12 Universal Specialty lathe. As long as you recognize its limitations, it's perfect. Don't try to flip the Mack Truck's brake drums and…

Not straight and moves in a locked state, PULL HARD!

UPDATED: Thing doesn't work, wiggles too much, wiggles a lot so never cuts straight. It wobbles when you cut, causing the bit to lose sharpness faster and heating up the metal. It takes me forever to drill a piece of steel, which shouldn't take that long. This is a great tool! I really like it and it made a lot of things easier! One of the things I noticed is that the tool holder shifts when working with harder metals, which is very annoying when you want a straight cut. When turning the part…

Pros
  • Consistent in testing
Cons
  • Slightly torn

This item was tempting as it was around $30 when I bought it. It "looks" like it might work, and if you're on a tight budget and have an Atlas 618 you found next to a dumpster in Chicago, you don't want to spend a lot. But with age and experience I've come to realize that some things are WAY too good to be true. For example this QCTP. - I sincerely urge you to buy SOMETHING instead of this burning heap of cast aluminum and sprayed junk. Things this badly done will likely have trouble getting…

It's not worth it. in Power Tool Parts & Accessories

At first I wanted to try this quick change kit because it is my first mini lathe. After receiving the post and quick change tool blocks I wasn't impressed. None of the blocks fitted properly, there was such a large gap between the tool blocks and the quick change rack that nothing was stable. I have ordered other tool blocks from ebay and they fit much better if filed a bit to allow them to slide. I got tired of playing around with this kit and decided to order a solid steel kit. I received the

GREAT COMPONENT FOR MINI CUTTERS

I purchased the JWGJW 120034 Quick Change Mini Tool Set from Revain.com. It arrived in a few days as promised. This kit contains four tool holders: one for the boring bar, one for the parting blade and two for trimming tools. I love having the ability to remove and replace tool holders and the repeatability this setup offers. I only found two problems, small problems with this product. First, my compound slide has a locating pin, and this rack doesn't have a matching hole on the bottom to…

I ordered two, they are not all made exactly the same!

I am giving these pins three stars mainly because of their value. These are not high end or professional grade tool posts and I wouldn't expect them for the price. I am writing this review after receiving the second one today. I ordered my first one about a year ago and was so pleased with it that I bought a second one for another lathe I have. The first worked right out of the box. Everything was fixed as it should and I didn't have to change it in any way. The tool holders do not snugly fit…
