Doesn't fit in boxes

I'm sure they work great except they don't fit in boxes. I swap out all my detectors so I figured these adapters would save me some time. It didn't work the first time, I thought it was just a custom sized box but they are all the same. There is simply not enough space for adapters and cables. So I retrieved them and reassembled myself. Super easy and saved me some money doing it. Don't worry about that.

Not compatible with all Kidde detectors, your results may vary

I ordered these with my new Kidde detectors when I needed to replace my old Firex wired detectors. The connection worked fine until I tried mounting the detector to a COSM-IKidde KN-COSM-IBA smoke/carbon monoxide ceiling mount combination plate. The adapter protrudes and interferes with the mounting plate. I used my dremel to remove some of the plastic but it made a huge mess and I had to replace six detectors! Poor design turned a quick task into a potentially longer task. I ended up rewiringโ€ฆ

Hours Saved

Based on 17 year old Firex detectors (model FADC) they literally saved hours by not having to hook up 12 new harnesses. A little tip though is to mount them on the back of your new detectors first so they are set up and ready to go. The sewing feet were very tight - so tight I couldn't use my fingers to push the back pins apart far enough to fit the back of the new detectors - it hurt terribly! I have found that the best way is to line them up on the back of your new metal detector and then use

Simple push button High security

I have replaced some old Firex smoke alarms (model 120-1072B from 2001) with a Kidde i4618 Firex smoke alarm. Used these adapters and it was easy. - Using adapters got the job done +10 for each replacement. - If you have time and want to switch, +20 minutes of work and don't buy it. It's easy to rewire, even a caveman can do it (without distracting from any cavemen). If your electrical box is quite full in the wall, you may want to choose the reconnect option as this adapter will take up someโ€ฆ

Quick installation of replacement detectors, but not necessary

If you have old Kidde smoke detectors with a straight 3-pin plug, you can use this adapter to install new Kidde Firex detectors with a triangular 3-pin plug. Install pin connector -pin connector without rewiring. Of course, these adapters simplify and speed up the installation of replacement smoke alarms. However, new Firex detectors come with a new pigtail connector, so it's fairly easy to unscrew the nuts from the old pigtail connector and then screw the nuts onto the new pigtail. Given theโ€ฆ

Saves time! suitable for smoke alarms and fire alarms

Saved me so much time! My existing Firex smoke alarms are 15 years old. Last week one started beeping and wouldn't stop even with a new battery. Then I read online that the average lifespan of a smoke alarm is 10 years. Also, interconnected wired detectors must be of the same brand, as much as I want to replace all my detectors with smart detectors, having 10 units on three floors, $1,200 for new smart detectors was out of my budget. I had to replace my old Firex detectors with Kidde/Firexโ€ฆ

Adapter needs adjustment for Kidde model KN-COSM-IBA

I bought 12 of these to convert my expired Firex smoke alarms to Kidde model KN-COSM-IBA combined smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. It seemed easier to use these which adapt a Kidde socket to an existing Firex plug than to rewire an existing box with the new wiring harness that comes with the detector. , and also fits the existing Firex fork perfectly, but the diameter of the adapter is too big. It is not possible to screw the detector to the ceiling/wall plate as the edge of the adapterโ€ฆ

  • Pretty package

  • Hard to tell

Do what they have to do, overpriced for what you get!

I had to replace all the smoke detectors in the house because the replacement was overdue. When looking for a replacement I found that the power connector had changed (probably when Kidde bought the Firex). So the new Firex smoke alarms have a different power connection and require either this adapter or turning off the power in the fuse box and overriding each individual smoke alarm (this might be fine for 1-2 but had to work with multiple and didn't want to) , especially when balancing onโ€ฆ
