I highly recommend either 1) buying another whole lock

I hope this product was not a real kryptonite lock. After a little over a year of use, the lock was very difficult to pick, requiring you to keep wiggling the key back and forth and patiently waiting for it to somehow engage and unlock. After waiting too long it's permanently locked and won't unlock - I can even see that the internal mechanism is warped so it doesn't match the button guide and now I have to find a way to remove it from mine Bicycle. I highly recommend buying either 1) anotherโ€ฆ

Feels safest in accessory

I bought this lock just over a year ago and it is holding up great. I don't think you can go wrong with this lock. It seems very safe. However, there is something to note: the U-lock is very large. It comes with a bike mount so you don't have to carry it on your body or in your bag, but the lock is too big to attach anywhere on my bike without anything getting in the way (like my bike). pedal legs, rack, bottle cage) so I either have to carry it around or attach it to the rack in a weird way so

Once a great product, the quality is gone! DO NOT RECOMMEND anymore.

I have had Kryptonite for many years and have had no hesitation in recommending it. What happened? I'm still trying to figure it out. The keys and the inner workings of the locks have changed. The buttons feel cheap and look cheap. Locks are very difficult to open. The key is often very difficult to get into the lock. Also, everything about the blocking quality seems very bad. I made the mistake of giving my old lock to someone who really needs it. I bought a new Trek and as always my firstโ€ฆ

Stolen bike from San Francisco that was hit by bolt cutters

My beautiful chrome Specialized Allez was stolen last night and it looks like this lock did little to help the stop thief. I understand that there is no lock that will stop a truly motivated thief, but the conventional wisdom is that you need some kind of power tool to pick a U-lock. What's particularly disturbing about this case is that it looks like he's been hit with bolt cutters. The detailed image of the crack shows that it is due to shear forces and not abrasion from an angle grinder. Iโ€ฆ

All the fake hardened steel stuff etc - BS This is all I have left of my bike that I parked at Bart Station in Berkeley. Someone cut it in seconds. It was very disappointing that I have loved the bike very much for 10 years. I just got this new lock a few months ago. not he is not. Interestingly, there were dozens of slashed kryptonite bike locks on the bike rack. It looks like this brand is what thieves are after as it's clearly easy to break through - if anything, Kryptonite's designโ€ฆ

Serves a primary purpose, but not one that can be relied upon.

Well, first off, I got my Trek stolen from an apartment building garage using the "Original" version of this lock. I hung it on a wall post all night and made the mistake that the U-lock only went through the frame and rear wheel and the cable connected to the front wheel, post and U-lock. The thief basically spent 15 minutes cutting the cable and then simply wheeling the bike out of the garage, front wheel and rear wheel up (all the fun was caught on the security camera)! At the same time itโ€ฆ

The lock is severed in less than 7 seconds!

$1500 Guarantee is a scam. I bought this lock based on Amazon's high ratings, but if you look beyond the stars and read every review, you won't find that kind of confidence in purchasing this product. I figured a company willing to pay up to $1,500 for your stolen bike would have to be a great product that's never seen a bike stolen before, but turns out it's just a marketing gag is. As you can see from all the pictures of stolen bikes/locks you will think twice before you even considerโ€ฆ
