Expensive but works

Legrand and another major player in the structured media case market are known to overprice their accessories. The AC1058 5e 8-Port Network Interface Module is no different. Analogues from third-party developers are very difficult to find. Since I only had to run 4 Cat 5e cables I decided to just use this one. As previously mentioned, the module is color coded for the 568A. I'm not as fanatical as some about 568A vs 568B. You can connect the 568B simply by swapping the orange and green wire…

I've had good luck with the fit and function

I was a big fan of this module and was hoping that replacing it with an existing telecoms module in the mounting panel would make my wired ethernet ports work throughout the house and it was correct . . Anyway, after I removed the old module with a punch to connect the existing wires to this new module, I really hoped I did everything right. As it turned out, that was mostly it. After plugging in an ethernet switch, my most coveted ethernet port worked in the wall outlet below. Success! And it…

inaccurate website photos

There are actually two versions of this article from On-Q. The Revain page shows pictures of the old metal-cased version. The new version has a plastic case. The item Revain is sending you is a newer version. Unfortunately, the protrusions on the plastic case are much thicker than the metal protrusions. That means an old On-Q telecom cabinet won't fit in the holes. I had to return it and buy an older version on eBay as the major retailers seem to only sell the newer version. If you have an old…

Incorrectly connected ports, look elsewhere.

I purchased this device as I was redesigning my home network to support distance learning, working from home and doing everything online in the spirit of COVID. Initially only connected a few ports to perform the necessary resets. Tested with the Scout Pro 3 tester and everything is fine (at least for these ports). A month later (refund window closed) I'm adding a few more drops after my updates were backported to some older Netgear switches in favor of a single Ubiquiti POE switch. After…

Really helps organize network cabling

Great product! It fits well in Legrand's multimedia case. It's a little tricky to knit, but no harder than any other punch block. The only thing to note if you follow the color coding on the punch block, this is associated with the TIA568A standard which is more used in Europe. In the USA, the TIA568B standard is more commonly used. It would be good to read about it in the documentation or maybe print it on a punch pad. The solution is to simply swap the green and orange pairs. That's good, but

Will not fit 2014 On-Q Panel without modification

Please note this will not fit older (2014 in my case) On-Q Panels with 1" mounting grid holes. The review describes how I was able to do this by drilling the existing larger holes to match the lugs and drilling a new hole for the quick release pin (the side of the pin does not fit the 1" pitch). misleading description "Fits all On-Q Panels". Otherwise it's a good patch panel, but I might have chosen a different brand if I'd known I'd have to make the mount
