I used their size chart but the coat was too small for my son. He's 11 so maybe small/younger fits better. He could pull it on, but his shoulders were hunched and the sleeves only came down to mid-forearms. (He's a beanstalk, so it's not a weight issue, and again, I used their size chart to find the right size.) The body was a good length - it went right over his butt. I can't speak to his warmth as he couldn't wear it.

My son continues to grow and needs a new winter jacket again. This is beautiful, fluffy and actually very warm. It gets pretty harsh and cold here in the Midwest, so this jacket will come in handy. He is 13 and I ordered 13/14. It hugs him tightly. Hope it doesn't grow too fast. I would have even ordered a size up but 13/14 was the largest size available at the time of purchase. I love the two tone style; and red and blue go well together. I see nothing negative in this design. recommend it!

This jacket runs true to size. It is well stitched both outside and inside. Has two front lower pockets and one exterior breast pocket. The sleeves are a good length and have plastic drawstrings that close with velcro to keep the wind out. Shell 100% nylon, body/hood lining 35% cotton and 65% polyester, insulation 100% polyester. It is about true to size, maybe a bit small. My 4.5 year old models size 5/6 years. he is small for his age. (He is about 43 inches tall and weighs 35-36 pounds). This jacket appears to be of average quality. The stitching is mostly even, the stitching is tight enough not to rip. The top line is mostly flat. The lining is comfortable and the puffy layer keeps you warm. However, the size is too big. Size 13-14 years. Not the size. Have you ever looked at a class of 13-14 year old boys? Any height and scope imaginable. This jacket didn't make it to its destination because it was too small, it found a good home.

Advantages: - Excellent insulation - Nice color scheme - Soft fleece in the hood and chest area - Pockets for cold hands. , and it's definitely big, but still works well with the sleeve rolled up a bit. - Not sure how waterproof or waterproof it is yet, but it has enough insulation that the humidity outside doesn't bother them much unless they get wet. - Fleece lined pockets would be nice.

I'm taking off a star first because 1) there are no pockets to put your hands in so the kid has to wear gloves to keep their hands warm and 2) the drawstring on the hood is only decorative and not actually put on a hood (see fig.).
