Men's 4/women's 5 are perfect for women's size 6 1/2.

I only received them a day ago and have ONLY tried them on so far but as sizes are confusing I wanted to at least get my hands on them. I hope this makes life easier for others trying to figure out which sz to get. I am a 6 1/2 foot female, I bought MENS SZ 4/WOMENS 5. They fit perfectly! Tight but not too tight. If you wear women's size 7, get the next size up, M4/W5 will be too tight for size 7 foot. Hope this is useful for future buyers. I'll write about performance later.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Does not fit all

Suitable for boots

Not sure how they will work for me yet. I agree with others that if you're ordering anything other than sandals, order a size up. I bought these to use as a swim tube fin after reading a review about it on another angler's website. I ordered them a size larger as they are worn over waders. I agree they are very flexible but a bit tight. Not sure if this would be an issue when wet, but when dry they felt pretty snug. I'll be using them soon so I'll update my review if my experience changes. Well

  • Nice packaging

Difficult to size (cut large, compresses) but good quality

As some reviewers have warned, sizing is very difficult. Cut large compared to the shoe size, but will shrink a lot after first use, washing and drying. I wear size 10.5, bought a pair of 10 and 9; 10 was huge (felt like 11.5) and 9 was comfy (still had the case, like 10.5). After drying, 9 shrunk a little, quite tight, there is no space; I'm worried if they shrink a little more. 9.5 would be ideal. My advice to those who have shoe size "0.5" do not buy. Otherwise going down a size makes senseโ€ฆ

DO NOT BUY ANY SIZE OVER

I live in Hawaii and do a lot of ocean cruising. I trust mares. Quality is everything. This pair replaces my 4 year old pair. (I'm in the water 2-4 times a week.) For someone who's in the water less than 2 times a month, this should be enough until the cows return home. Lightning Titanic! Soles cling to wet, algae-covered rocks like there's no tomorrow. Light and flexible. My only initial concern was the fit, and I was right. I went up a size because my old Mares boots needed a larger size. Not

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Extra large size fits boots

I wear size 12 shoes so based on reviews that these dive boots run large I bought a size 11. When they arrived I tried them on and my foot had maybe 1/4 inch of room around it, in width and length, and it wasn't at all tight like a dive boot should be. They were large enough to fit comfortably in a 5mm neoprene sock. The outsole of these boots is quite flexible, so if you need protection from rocks and sharp surfaces you can try heavier boots. If you dive from a boat or from the beach youโ€ฆ

Great quality, durable, gets a bit smaller as it stretches a bit when wet

Mares booties are the gold standard for many instructors and for good reason. Grippy but soft sole, good zippers and good fit. You will feel sharp and pointy stones but the sole will hold up. They are a little big for a narrow foot but bend slightly for a wide foot like mine (especially when wet). My feet are US size 10.5-11 and size 10 fits me perfectly. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of rubber padding on the top of the foot which could have made the booties more durable andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Hard to say

Warm, strong, a little big

I wear women's size 9.5, I ordered women's size 10 and they are quite large. Without socks it flutters loosely on my leg. I think a women's size 9 would be best for my 9.5 feet. I either wear them with 3mm neoprene socks underneath or neoprene socks and wool socks underneath. My feet get cold easily, and when they're cold I'm not happy. With wool and neoprene socks, my feet get toasted on my SOT kayak in hot weather. The boots feel solid, the sole feels solid, the zipper feels very solidโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • High price

VERY DISAPPOINTED - 1st use and download CANNOT be unzipped!

When I first received these boots they looked and fit well before I used them. I first tried them on while on a beach vacation in Outer Banks, North Carolina. I am very disappointed and upset. I can't use them. The first time I use it, I can't unpack the right boot at all. I even had friends who tried to help untie the boot but couldn't untie the boot. I thought I would have to cut my foot out of the boot. With great effort and frustration, I was able to get the boot out without cutting it open

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
