Gets the job done. The 8-18 update wants the vertical piece to be 3 inches longer so I can open the tailgate with this tool installed. Because it is the current size, you need to open the tailgate and then install the tool, otherwise it will hit the tailgate.

I use this with a Harbor Freight vise and love it. I have used it for field repairs on equipment and vehicles. Works perfectly. Used this to convert the front end of a Ford Superduty and had no problems with sag. It obviously won't be as strong as a vise mounted on a workbench, be reasonable and you'll be happy.

Just what I needed for a stable platform for my dirty outdoor jobs. The hitch was easy to install with an instruction manual. Non-slip struts prevent it from swinging. Its second top position allows me to open and close the rear of my SUV (no vise). The mount seems solidly built. I attached my 20 year old 4" vise with two screws. A 5" or 6" vise would probably work better.

I managed to trim and trim the pipe. I attached a rigid pipe vise; The holes in the vise did not line up with the existing holes in this bracket, but drilling the hole in the correct location was not a problem. I added a 4" vise to this machine and it is exactly what I expected. The ideal solution. I don't have room for a bench to set up a vise. I use it for welding, cutting, grinding, and projects that don't require a huge vise to hold the work. If you use this product for the purpose it was designed for, you will be very satisfied. If you plan to use it on line or pipe threads larger than 1" in diameter, get a tripod chain vise, LOL.

Just installed it on my truck, seems to be working fine especially with the slop mounts. However, a simple improvement would make it even better. There are multiple holes in the vertical part, so the height can be adjusted easily, but there are only two adjustment holes in the horizontal tube! everything is fine with this holder, except that you cannot open the tailgate with it. I solved this problem by buying a 12" hitch extension, then fully inserting the vise mount tube (about 3.25") and drilling a new hole in the vise mount tube. Sliding it all the way in and re-drilling increased the stability of the mount, eliminating the need for an anti-rattle addon. It was quiet stable.
