Description of MICHELIN X-Ice Snow 215/60 R16 99H winter
MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW winter safety and mobility despite wear The Michelin X-Ice Snow is a friction development representing a new generation of winter tires that promises mobility and safety for passenger cars in the harshest climates. The manufacturer notes that the development and testing of prototypes of the model took place in Northern Europe, so it takes into account all possible weather conditions for extreme winter driving.
The Michelin X-Ice Snow winter tire is suitable for 85% of modern passenger cars. The model is offered in more than 120 sizes for wheels with a diameter of 14 to 22 inches. It is positioned by the manufacturer as a replacement for the X-ice Xi3, differing from it in a completely redesigned design and new materials. This provides it with a significant superiority, both over its predecessor and similar tires of the world''s leading brands.
New tread design The key external difference between this model and its predecessor is the design of the tread pattern. Having retained the V-shaped arrangement of elements, it is characterized by their smaller size, modified shape and increased numbers. This made it possible to significantly improve directional stability and traction and braking properties on snow-covered surfaces. The increased capacity and the more acute angle of the sipes allow the tire to effectively deal with both hydroplaning and slashplaning.
Updated slats Another significant innovation is the use of two types of slats. All slots have a "three-dimensional" profile of vertical sipes, thanks to which they retain the rigidity of the blocks, improving handling and stability of traction on cleared asphalt from snow and ice. Due to the ability to be rigidly fixed in the open position, the number of slots has been increased. At the same time, the variable thickness of the slots in the central part allows the tire to better cling to the icy surface covered with a water film.
U-shaped lamellas located in the shoulder areas improve handling and traction on slippery surfaces when maneuvering. They are fully preserved even with heavy wear of the running part of the tread. This is due to the increased depth of cut of the sipes, which is a "proprietary" feature of the French brand tires, which distinguishes it from the vast majority of similar tires from other manufacturers.
Advanced CompoundThe tread uses the 2nd iteration of the Flex-Ice compound. It is distinguished from the previous compound by the use of more modern polymers. They significantly improve the tread resistance to abrasion, elasticity at low temperatures, and prevent the destruction of the tread when overheated. The presence of a porous structure of the compound also follows. This solution allows you to additionally dry the contact patch, improving grip on packed snow and ice.
