Nice additional/small lock

Used it as the only lock on a crappy bike in the big city for a while with no problems. I upgraded my bike and now this is my extra lock. Good size for mounting on scaffolding/odd spaces. Although I see a lot of such clippings (RIP). For now, it's fine for making stealing my bike more inconvenient, although I wouldn't trust it alone on a $500 bike in a big city. Never had a problem with the locking mechanism. However, the bracket can rattle a bit and has bounced off curbs a few times.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Slightly snapped

Survived attempted theft

My OnGuard Pitbull saved my bike from being stolen by a would-be thief with some sort of pry bar or lever mechanism. The thief attempted to use a crowbar, pushed against the steel bar to which I had attached my bike, and attempted to break or force the pit bull out. The pit bull survived with only cosmetic damage to the plastic parts. You could see marks in the plastic cover where the pry bar pushed into the block. It is important that my bike is secure and that the lock works properly. I would

The pit bull is on guard.

Needed a strong U-lock for my e-bike (front wheel drive). Here you cannot afford ease or cheapness. This Pitbull U-Lock is the most effective deterrent for almost any bike thief; Cutting the Pitbull's bonds takes longer than most thieves are willing to take, so they mostly switch to a bike attached to something smaller. wheel (this pit bull blocks your bike, not the cable) and then to the corresponding stationary post; The bike is as safe as it gets if you need to keep it out of sight during…

Good value castle. for cycling

great lock, easy to lock and unlock. It's big and quite long, but it just wasn't possible to lock the front wheel and frame (24") in the same lock, so I had to ride with the frame when I bought it for the event. Fortunately, the event participants were very nice and didn't take my front wheel with them, but I didn't expect that. It comes with a bike holder which is handy and keeps the lock securely in place while you ride. It seems very thick and it takes a little while for someone to try and…

Strong lock with good key design.

Locks are simple tools that should do multiple jobs perfectly. So far this lock has kept my bike from being stolen so this is an indication of its reliability. For me it is important that the hanger opens and closes safely. In this case, OnGuard is perfect. I open and close my lock 10 times a day when I'm running errands, coming to work, etc. I've had other locks that were painful to open and close. This lock has a durable toggle switch and shackle that work cleanly. And when it sticks…

Very strong and also very heavy

I'm quite clumsy with my bike locks as I don't really look after them, I accidentally bump into bike racks and keep dropping them on concrete. This. seems to really like it when I do it. I think it was designed to be abused. It looks and feels new, although in some places there is a soft, transparent, thin layer on the large component. This lock also doubles as a bludgeon if I'm ever attacked while cycling. I could probably seriously shake someone with this thing if I ever had to fend off a…

COUNTING 5 YEARS, my FUJI 3.0 wasn't STOLEN with ONGUARD U LOCK!

So far I am using OnGuard U Lock and PINHEAD WHEEL Locks on my FUJI 3.0 in MANHATTAN. I prefer this to a 3 foot chain and LOCK where I had 5 BICYCLES stolen fitted with child seats. I've done extensive research on what the lock is capable of, and OnGuard has even tested it in Manhattan and Brooklyn, parking $500 bikes outside overnight. The castle has held up very well. I don't recommend leaving a bike in NYC overnight unless it's $75. Bikes over $600 will not park. Get a spare bike for trips…
