Worked great the first time

This item was perfect for removing and installing the water pump pulley on my Ford Ranger. The set is solidly built and should last for many years with proper use. To use it you need a set of standard wrenches (NOT metric). DO NOT use an impact wrench or the tool or pulley will break.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Contact Seller

"Pretty much " serves its purpose.

It worked almost 100% when I installed the power steering pulley on my truck. Nearly. You may find that the replacement provided may not provide the final fit. A little distant. So please consider adding an OTC 7005 replacement to allow this additional part to go through for a final fit. As always YMMV but I needed it for my situation. But the kit is good.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Available in white only

Don't be fooled by cheap imitations!

OTC instruments are better made of better metal than fakes. At first I bought a cheaper set and thought "I'm not going to use it often enough to justify buying a better one". It broke on the first try to use it and I hardly had to strain it! I've only used my OTC kit a few times since I bought it, but it worked PERFECTLY both times! OTC tools save you time and money in the long run.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • High price

Compatible with Ford 4.2 V6.

I can confirm the work on the power steering pump pulley Ford F150 4.2 V6 1997 Lubricate the threaded parts with a good lubricant such as: B. Brake caliper slime. DO NOT ATTEMPT to loosen the center pulley Torx 50 screw, simply use a tool to remove the pulley from the shaft. 16mm for the breaker bolt and a 21mm box wrench for the nut on the detachable end which is keyed to the frame side rail. Stiff resistance, but walk steadily and slowly, it will give way. God send the instrument.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • There are shortcomings

Payback on first use

If you decide to replace your power steering pump, this tool will pay for itself in the first use. You can keep your tools and save at least a thousand dollars by repairing them yourself. This is for GM vehicles and works great. You will receive one set to remove the pressed pulley and another set to press it back in. I thought it would be a difficult task, but it turned out to be a very easy task. The hardest part is removing the pump itself, not the pulley. By the way, you should consider…

Half of the kit worked

Bought the kit to work on an older GMC pickup. The pulley removal tool worked perfectly. The installation tool failed before the pulley was completely replaced. The 3/8-16 pinch bolt tired and eventually broke over a quarter of an inch before the pulley was properly installed. As this is a special screw, no replacement parts are available. I had to find a tool similar to OTC 7005 locally to complete the installation. The OTC 7005 has a much larger turnbuckle that will likely stand up to…

Almost teenagers

Currently working on my 83 6.2l K20 Chevy. After removing the power steering pump, I found a small hole in the back of the reservoir. I could have soldered the hole, but since the pump itself was original and occasionally malfunctioned, I decided to replace it rather than rebuild it. Knowing that a new pump doesn't usually come with a pulley. I went to both local car dealerships to get a puller. Both magazine pullers were broken and in my opinion trying to get it to work would have caused more…
