I'm glad my gas cap no longer flaps in the wind while I drive. But look at the photos. That thing looks awful. It is very easy to change, but there are no settings to solve the gap problem.

Much cheaper than the Ford dealer. I wish someone would just sell the nib as that was the only problem with my old one. The first one broke after 130,000 miles so it's probably not a good design if it fails with just 450 open/close cycles.

This product differs from the OEM in a number of ways: Inlet cap guides are narrower and not as rigid and I was unable to install the cap; and the seal was poor as there was a visible gap between the cover and the case. Two of us tried to get it working but the product turned out to be defective. I didn't bother installing it about 45 days after ordering it, so unfortunately I can't return it. Waste of my money and probably yours too.

Don't worry when you order this product. I have ordered this product twice thinking the first one was just damaged and checked by QA staff. I was wrong however, this is an inadequate and underdeveloped product that has too strong a wire spring mechanism that pulls too hard on the plastic and breaks it. Both case assemblies I ordered arrived with the inner hinge cracked and stressed from the original mold design.

When my fuel door wouldn't close anymore, I went to YouTube to see what I should do. I have found several videos showing how to fix the spring in the movement rather than buying an "expensive" replacement. So I followed these steps (including drilling and screwing in) and fixed it. Item arrived on time. It was easier to put in than taking out the old one by putting in the hinged side first. Then thread the shell section into the body panel, remembering to align the three screws on the fuel filler neck to which you will attach it. I managed to get under the fender to get the fuel filler neck in position a bit. After aligning and bolting, place the body cover door onto the panel section of the hinge arm. There is no OEM part number stamped anywhere on the body and the only identification is "OXGORD" (with a stylistic "X") in raised lettering within the portion above the fuel filler hole.
