5ghz on Linux on computers and accessories

I installed this on a Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon PC with the latest kernel. It was completely plug and play. If you only have a 2.4GHz SSID to connect to, I would not recommend this adapter. It ran at just 58Mbps while sitting 10ft from my router. I would recommend TP-LINK TL-WN822N. It's not plug and play, but you can find the right drivers and detailed instructions by searching "TL-WN822N Jeremyb31". I always get 144MB with it. If you have 5GHz then this is a good option for the price. iwconfig

The speed has increased from an average of 12 to 50 Mbps!

My old laptop had download speeds of 6-16Mbps (on a very good day) when I paid for 45Mbps. I average about 12. I tried updating the WiFi drivers, changing the channel, but it didn't help. Then I thought that for the price I would try this product. I was shocked. Now I have a speed of 40.00+. The internal Wi-Fi card that came with my laptop just didn't work. I'm using Windows 10. I didn't bother with the installation disc. I connected the flash drive and disabled the internal WiFi. Very easy. Iโ€ฆ

This adapter is advertised as 300-600Mbps depending on the network but just isn't capable of it. Perfect Linux compatibility (which is rare for USB WiFi adapters). I tested this on Ubuntu Bionic (18.04) on a Dell laptop and on Fedora 30 Linux on a Ryzen desktop. The adapter worked immediately after plugging it in with NetworkManager. However, speeds I've observed have ranged from 10-70 Mbps, while other WiFi devices (including an Android phone) on the same network hit 300 Mbps and above, andโ€ฆ

Plug and play Linux Mint 17.3 but not without problems

I've used several USB Wi-Fi adapters that advertise Linux compatibility and this is the FIRST device I've bought and it is (partly) works. Runs natively on the latest Linux kernels without compiling drivers (plug and play);* Connected at both 2.4 and 5 GHz (hooray!). Bad:* Very limited range, poor signal on computer downstairs 20ft from router (Asus N66U) upstairs;* 5GHz is very picky about which channel it prefers. I had to experiment with a few before finally hooking it up. Once connectedโ€ฆ

This (PAUO7) is arguably the best 5GHz wireless adapter you can buy right now that is 100% compatible Linux compatible. Unfortunately, one cannot say that this product is error-free. The great thing about wireless Panda adapters is that they all have Ralink chips. Ralink develops and maintains GPL drivers for all of its products, which are built directly into the Linux kernel. Before proceeding with the review, I would like to note that I live in a remote area so there is no interference in the
