Not the old Escape Sugar Shorts

I've been buying the Pearl iZUMi Escape Sugar Shorts for years and I always buy the medium size and they fit perfectly. I'm 5'6" and 130 kg. So without reading any reviews. After checking the sizing chart I bought the same size as the 2018 shorts. When they arrived they were very small but with " Marked Medium. My 12 year old daughter, who is 78 pounds and has a small waist, thinks they are perfect for her. I recommend taking one size up for a comfortable fit and two sizes up for a regular fit.

Don't oversize! Stick to your normal size.

Not sure if all the other reviewers said these shorts are VERY small. They don't. Anyway, I took her advice and ordered two pairs of these shorts, one and two sizes larger than I normally wear: one large, the other extra large. Size XL came first, and I'm telling you, these shorts have literally come down to my ankles. They were MASSIVE. The L's arrived today and although they fit, they were loose. I definitely had to stick to my normal size (medium). But now they don't have any left. 😩💔 So…

Great shorts for short trips

I bought these shorts because I can't stand those extra long 8" or 9" shorts. The old sugar shorts were too tight in the legs, but that's a big improvement over the old version. Pearl eventually realized that not all of us have skinny legs. The material is flexible but not loose, and the lightweight grip doesn't pinch like the rubber grips of old. They fit pretty well considering most shorts are cut for curvy shapes (big hips and a tiny waist) and mine aren't. The waistband is wide and…

Super compression, and yes - it works LITTLE!

I'm 5ft 2in, 110lbs and new to cycling. My friend advised me that the cycling shorts should be very tight and that I buy the smallest size. Based on the reviews and sizing recommendations, I went for a small one. When I received them I tried them on and wow - it was a struggle to get them on my hips! Once put on they feel good. Super tight but not uncomfortable .was on my first trip and felt good. But yes - I regret not returning them before wearing them. I think I could AT LEAST choose a…

XL vs L, wear size 10 and 12

Usually I wear shorts and pants in size 10, sometimes 12, depending on the fit. I tried these cycling shorts in both XL and L. Both were wearable. The big shorts fit better in the suede area, didn't move at all, but overall the fabric was tight. I think it will be hot and uncomfortable on a long hot journey. The XL shorts were fine in the suede section, especially when I pulled them up a bit and made sure the padding was in place. Overall, shorts fit a little better. I bought XL. Remember I…

Collapse! Get ready for frequent "fixes " while driving

I really wanted to like them. I loved them the first time I wore them but after one wash everything went wrong. They roll up all the time when I'm cycling! As a beginner in cycling, I didn't appreciate how short they are compared to more typical cycling shorts. Now I take off all shorts and switch to 3/4 tights! Now no worries and no "corrections" while driving. My tights have the same suede lining, which seems to work better for me than a pair of more expensive Pearl Izumi linings. I wear size

What happened to the fit and size of the PEARL iZUMi?

Reading other people's reviews of sizes and short runs is a gross understatement. FITI bought five pairs of PEARL iZUMi Riding Shorts between 2017 and 2018, including four Escape Sugar Shorts, all of which are regular sizes and fit like a glove. The Escape Sugar Shorts are from 2019 and don't come close to the sizes that PEARL iZUMi had before. PEARL iZUMi clearly needs to use another supplier to make their clothes, resulting in massive quality control oversight. It's like a clothing company…
