My cat's fur has burned off

Well my cat certainly liked this house in the winter but now that she's warmed up and been more outdoors we've noticed that all the hair on her Belly burned from the heating pad. I figured the voltage on the pad should be low enough to prevent this, but that wasn't our experience. I disabled it and now it only uses the house and the pillow as a pillow. I really feel sorry for the cat.

  • Very impressive

Great security for your outdoor cat!

We bought a heater and assembled it in no time! Decided to use some liquid nails when we put it together for extra strength. There were also some old clapboards so we threw them on the roof to give it a nice look and add some waterproofing to the house. He will be on our porch under a canopy. Our open semi-feral cat jumped in while we were still collecting it. He loves to! He connected the heating pad, put his hand in it and felt that after some time after laying on it, he felt good and…

  • Unsure

Large air gaps along the roofline under eaves and other joints. I taped everything up with duct tape. Then they placed it on a hard outdoor heating pad from K&H Pet Products. Placed a similarly shaped PetSmart Styrofoam cat house inside, removed the bottom padding and stuffed it along one wall (wind wall). Then a K&H soft outer hearing aid inside. Then some puppy training pads because they're easy to replace and keep the inside clean (mostly dirty paws). Then they covered everything with…

Have a feral cat that has been roaming the area for several years. She looked skinny, and Iowa winters can be harsh, so we bought a house. SHE LOVES IT! The house came together easily and we left it on the lower deck next to the house with no doors. After 2 days of sniffing she slept in it. When it got colder I embossed all the seams, tucked in *small patches* of a tiny little old cashmere sweater (the hat seller didn't advise), put the remaining hardwood floors underneath, attached plastic…

Great design and quality at a bargain price

I have just assembled this cat house and was very happy with the quality: solid wood panels, no veneer, well finished. Thoughtful features include an adhesive strip to seal the roof top, grooved walls that fit tightly together, and precisely aligned pre-drilled screw holes. The heating pad fits and has a cord suitable for outdoor use. It was easy to assemble in under 15 minutes. Now that winter is coming I needed a small house for my covered porch to provide shelter to a few neighborhood street

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Cats approved and given 5 stars immediately!

My wild cats liked them immediately so I like them too but with caveats. I have also used K&H Outdoor Kitty House AND K&H A-Frame and they are good products too. Birchwood Manor is smaller than Kitty's House, but I prefer it because hardwood surfaces are easier to clean, which is important for feral cats. Instead of using a heating pad (there is no electricity where houses are used) I insulated the birchwood blocks with 1/2 inch sheet insulation. It was difficult to measure and figure out how…

My outdoor cat took to it straight away and it was easy to put together.

I just posted this today and my street cat accepted it immediately. It only took me about 20 minutes to put it together and it was easy with slots and screws. I also cut out two square rugs to cover two sides of the roof for extra warmth and took a third piece of rug to put under the drawer. I then cut a shorter piece of rug and pinned it to the door, leaving about 2-1/2 inches over my arm for added weather protection. I can't use the door flap for the front door because I don't think the cat…

Nice little cabin with a few extras.

I've posted some pictures to show what I made. I insulated 2 sides first, the floor and the roof, but didn't see the point of insulating the exit/entrance walls with these huge doors. It's pointless. I painted 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of polyurethane. very thin indeed. I don't see how it can support a cat and not hang out of the ducts they are inserted into. So, like the previous reviewer, I cut out a 1/2 inch thick piece of plywood just slightly smaller than the base, wrapped it in a trash
