Perfect heater for my kennel!

Traditional bird warmer received mixed reviews - most of them mentioning it wasn't warm enough. So we've thought outside the box and tried it, and it's great. Easily attaches to the side of his cage and is the perfect temperature to keep him warm in winter. His cage is next to a window and that gives him enough warmth to keep him warm. I take it off during the day as it's not needed and doesn't make him chew. The lid of the cage is closed. Perfect for our needs!

Great source of safe heat for a handful of chicks

As the original owners of the chicks, we used them in our five chick garage brooder. It was springtime in North Carolina, so the temperature in the garage never dropped below 50 degrees. I took a cardboard box, cut a few holes in the doors, turned it over and laid it on the carpet to give the chicks a place to sleep. . When they were big enough for the stall, I put the mat in the stall with them because it was around 40 degrees at night. They grew really well and I didn't have to worry about…

Best product for street rabbits

Best product for our rabbits - we liked the first one so much we bought the second. I've always hated lighting rabbits up with a bright heat lamp all night, but now they can just jump on it. There are small holes in the corners so you can tie it to the bottom of the cage (this was necessary for one rabbit but not another). The cord in the first section is wrapped in metal, but if you don't fasten it, your rabbit may have enough motivation to pull the pillow further into the cage by pulling the…

Great alternative to a heat lamp

I had six newborn chicks on Wednesday and their heating pad keeps them warm and happy. I leave it on all the time, lying on the floor of their brood box in a 70 degree room, with a light sprinkling of pine shavings on the pillow and an inverted basket on top to give them a shelter. They run under the basket, on their bedding when they get cold. They stay there to take a nap or until they are warm and then come back to eat and play. At night, as soon as I turn off the light in the room where I…

PERFECT for chicks in a STANDALONE home

We were looking for an alternative to energy intensive heat lamps. That's great. We are offline so power consumption is a big issue. Used internally on day-old chicks in summer and they are fine. I had 6 chicks but 12 would probably be fine as they could all get together. yes it will get dirty Chickens poop a lot! But it's hard plastic and washes off with warm water on a paper towel. The height of the lamp does not have to be constantly changed. When it's hot, they climb down, when it's cold…

Rabbit loves it, but be careful

Heats up to a comfortable, not too hot, temperature. I bought it for my rabbit outside. He loves to sit on it when the temperature drops. He's standing on a wire cage and some hay around him but not on top. It doesn't get too warm and the hay around it wasn't a problem. The rabbit will sit on it or stretch out on it and take a nap. He loves it, so I love it! **Update** I use this for my bunny and he sits on it a lot! Due to the cold weather I left it on. He sat on it too much and now he has…

Great product the chicks dig it up ;)

I have had this brand of heating pads for my cats and dogs for many years and was pleased to know they are available for newly hatched chicks. This is a great product. The only change I made was to add three strips of mesh tape for some support as I was concerned about the splayed leg. It would be easier to clean if I left it that way, but I just use a cleaning brush and it still stays clean. I have 15 chicks in my brooder. Some people prefer this heating pad (below them) to the heating pad…

The girls dig into my cozy pillow

Update: 2 years later and it still works like the day I got it. Excellent purchase. It has been used for two other groups of hens, as a warm bed for my old cat and I've even put it in a large coop on some snowy winter weeks to give the ladies extra warmth without worry. ------- ----------------------------------------- -------- --- ------ Works perfectly. The chickens and chicks liked it. It was in the Goldilocks zone for fluffy cotton: always warm, never too cool, never overheated. I kept it…
