🔒 Enhanced Smart Lock Combo with BOLT Technology Kit for Toyota Tacoma - Black - POP & LOCK PL8540 Review

Installed PL8540 on my 2015 Tacoma. Easy to install and works great for a few months. I installed it in October and in January (3 months later) the plastic shaft/bracket on the solenoid broke. The lock doesn't work and I have to put the original handle back on. I wouldn't buy it until the shaft is metal.

Pop & Lock Trunk installed by Guam Auto Clinic. The lock works like a charm, locking and unlocking with a factory key fob. The Guam Auto Clinic took about 2 hours. The mechanic told me there were only two patches attaching the black mold to the tailgate frame and that it was easier. Recommend this tailgate lock for securing items in the truck bed (Toyota Tacoma 15'). Many Thanks

Fits and looks good. The only small detail was that the included cables were a bit shorter at 5 feet. I had to buy additional cables. Maybe it was because my Tacoma is a long bed and I did a really professional install by routing all the cables down the left side of the chassis and using all 12 inch straps. Another thing is that the ABS plastic looks and feels a bit cheap compared to the original grip. The mechanism is noisy, but not critical.

Works exactly as advertised. I installed it in about an hour and it works great. It seems a bit "cheaper" than a factory pen, but I had no trouble getting it to work. I have a complaint. If you forget the tailgate is locked and try to force it open, the plastic lever on the back of the handle will get caught under another part. The PL8540 was easy to install and despite the crappy packaging it worked perfectly. The instructions were clear enough and it helps to go to their website and see the best resolution pictures in the online manual (booklet). As others have said, it's noisy, but I don't see it as a problem. Great product. I bought this from Revain for my 2015 Tacoma double bed after putting a cover on it. This allows me to lock my bed (back door) with my original FOB truck key. When I lock the truck doors, the tailgate locks too. When I unlock my truck with FOB, the back door also opens. I also have the option of using my original truck ignition key to unlock and lock the back door. The only downside would be the loud clicking of the mechanism when locking or unlocking. I've been using Pop n Lock for about a month. He does exactly what he says he should do. It unlocks and locks the tailgate with both my key fob and the key that came with the truck. Bolt codeable technology seems a bit finicky. Much like you need to keep your mouth shut properly, not blink, and hold your breath for this to always work. The camera works very well.
