For the money you can't beat this trunk release system. Easy installation. The help starts about the 3rd way down, but it works. You will need to put a zip tie over the top spring clip as it is not tight. That's why I gave 4 stars. Let's see how long this lasts.

Update - the manufacturer contacted me, apologized and sent a replacement free of charge. Already installed and works fine so far. I posted a video to show the final installation. Many Thanks. Easy to install and worked well for just over a month. The hammer arm broke. Too late for a credit or exchange.

works great on my Pro 4 Frontier, the back door weighs about 75 pounds and falls on anything behind it like an empty beer can. This shock stops falling after the first 6 inches or so and slowly lowers. The best addition I've made to my truck. Can't confirm durability or removal as I just installed it.

I installed it on my 2017 Nissan Frontier SV. It was very light and very durable. It's also easy to take off if you ever want to take it off and have the original tailgate back. I've also seen reviews mentioning a chrome plate that holds the frame in place. To fix this, just put the screw lock included in the kit on it and crimp it with pliers. Bought this item for my wife's 2019 Nissan Frontier. It was very easy to install and even came with everything you need to get the job done. The only thing I added. I've seen several YouTube videos and comments on the Nissan forums that the strut can come loose from time to time. Although I've never had this problem before, I just put a zip tie around the spring clip to keep it from ever coming loose. I installed this on the drivers side of my 2019 Nissan Frontier. Installation was very easy, with one error in the instructions. The upper cable bolt is not 13 mm, but 12 mm. Also, as previous reviewers have noted, the stainless steel clamp that keeps the piston from dislodging from the strut is very loose. This smooth action tailgate opener works very well. However, the instructions are wrong. The errors are in the list of tools. It's nice that they give a list of tools. If only this was the RIGHT tool list! What you really need are 4mm, 5mm and 6mm allen keys. Heads for 10, 12 and 14 mm. Zipper and something to attach the tail.
