Save those storm door closers.

Our storm door swung open enough to destroy several door closers. I was really tired of buying closers so I bought this one to keep the door from swinging open from a gust of wind. I'm not a wizard but install with no problems. Works great and I didn't have to buy a new door closer so it's a big win. Highly recommended.

If you have a drop down screen, be careful.

I wanted to use this on the front door. The internal drop-down screen left no clearance for the mounting bracket. There is an edge of the door for inserting screws - a chain will be needed anyway. after all, it was easy to bear. the instructions were ok. I used a YouTube video to help. It seems enough to get the job done.

Works well and prevents damage to the door and hinges in the wind

This is a fairly simple device but difficult to install. I used this to keep the storm door from opening too wide in windy weather. I had to make a block of wood to fit the top of the door into the frame of the storm door. It took a bit of trial and error to determine where to attach each end of the chain. I reckon it took at least an hour to install, maybe more, but it works fine.

Perfect for cheap Lowes doors!

I don't understand why they don't come with cheap Lowes storm doors. They are definitely needed as the wind loves to slam doors! Installation was quick and easy. The instructions were definitely a little lackluster; However, a little common sense did the trick. I couldn't figure out how to securely attach the spring to a nail in the door jamb, but the pull rod did its job well and can now be easily removed if needed. All in all a nice little kit that does the job. simply good.

Pros
  • One year trial

S Hook Not Sufficient

I mounted this product on a heavy glass storm door that is exposed to wind. The wind freshened it up yesterday. The force of the wind was so strong that the S-hook actually bent and flew off without being caught by the chain. He actually ripped the door closer out of the door frame. See photos. I've replaced the S-hook with a small carabiner for now, but plan to buy something stronger from the hardware store soon. I would advise anyone purchasing this product to replace the S hook with…

Great product on hardware

This recoil spring is just what I was looking for. Easy installation and the spring hangs well in the side. Simply measure 17 inches from the top of the doorway and then screw the bracket on with a heavy duty hinge making sure the bracket faces the inside of the doorway (see photo). I didn't drill anything, I just screwed in the screws with no problems. Then measure the same distance on the door itself and screw in another anchor element. You may need to pre-drill these holes in the door before

  • This is amazing

  • Hard to say
