Great filament, although can be tricky

I've printed over 14 kg (32 lbs) of PLA Magnetic Iron, which is probably more than any other filament I've ever printed or used . What I love about this yarn is the realistic look once the print has rusted. This is particularly useful as I work in the railway industry where many of the prints are for display purposes and the rusty look immediately catches people's attention - see attached photos of the reduced R36 switch post. Although this thread has its caveats. First off, I've found that a…

    The best iron-filled PLA.

I have used 3 spools of this filament in my Lulzbot printers for various projects. The key takeaway is that while at least 3 other competitors are selling metal-filled PLA composites with copper, brass, bronze, etc., there is simply no other competitor (to my knowledge) that offers readily available PLA mixed with iron powder. Luckily, Proto-Pasta's Magnetic Iron PLA is pretty good. In my experience, printing with it can be either easy or impossible, depending on various factors. For me, PLA…

Bad thread for the average person.

Okay to be honest I'm sorry to give such a negative review for this product as most people are happy with it and maybe I just expected too much from it but here it is anyway what I experienced. negative1. The filament is very fragile and even though they make it clear in the description, it's still annoying. My 3D printer always puts a little tension on the filament even when you load the filament so despite being careful I still had the filament snap once, no big deal when it's removed but if…
