Fantastic Oil Filter 08 Honda Accord 2.4 liter

Bought for a 2008 Honda Accord coupe 2.4 liter. Everything about this filter is good. Thread pitch available. The seal is less flexible than other manufacturers but provides a tighter fit. The steel body is shaped like a tank and is much heavier than most other filters. You can't go wrong by choosing this filter for your Honda. Possibly the best filter on the market.

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Poor quality leaking gasket

After installation it started leaking, I had to replace the filter with another brand. The seal closes almost flush with the metal ring on the outside. If the filter is supposed to be a high quality internal filter and cheap gaskets are used, why bother? Stay away from them until the manufacturer fixes this problem, otherwise you will have to change the oil twice. In my case I put it back on the ramps, changed the filter and added oil. It's probably an orange variety with a layer of blue paintโ€ฆ

Excellent filter media. Reasonable price.

If you are into in-line oil filters and their construction/design and materials, the Purolator Pure One is one of the best pairs you can get. The cheaper version is no longer available. I buy a slightly longer version to get some more filter media. Less back pressure to the oil pump and more oil to the engine. These are the bees' knees. Seriously look at the autopsy tests that were done on them. Don't limit yourself to just the brand you've always used, the one your dad used, or the brand onโ€ฆ

Improved reputation and quality

Back in the 90's when I was in the automotive industry, Purolator simply meant 'cheap quality' or 'second choice' while FRAM and Motorcraft were leaders in quality products. Whoever has run this company for the last 20 years has done a great job making quality car filters and now I trust Purolator with all my cars. A 10,000-mile oil filter is exactly what consumers want these days, because thinking about changing the oil isn't always high on the average guy's (or girl's) list. I am very happyโ€ฆ

Never let me down

Excellent filter. Just bought my 3rd. Probably its best attribute is its hull strength. It has a good, thick, durable body. If for any reason you lose the landing gear housing or it gets hit in any way, you definitely need to keep the oil filter working. I change the oil when the car barks at me, about every 5-7 km or so, but I don't drive much. The only complaint is that it's a little pricey, but if you want a high-end oil filter, you pay. Any mechanic will tell you that oil and oil filtersโ€ฆ

WHY this may not work for you

I've found rave reviews for this filter on various websites, especially for motorcycles. Blah blah, Purolator says their filters are "designed for cars, not bikes". Whatever that means. I also use car oils in motorcycles, ooh! Before I bought it I read the negative reviews here and some said that this filter is not suitable for their cars but no one gave details. The reason it might not work is that the threaded part is too close to the edge. Therefore, when you try to tighten the filter, itโ€ฆ

Great Filter for Daily Driver

I spent a lot of time researching and trying different oil filters to find which one would work best for my application and settled on the Purolator One. As for me, I have two direct-injected turbocharged Hondas and regularly change the oil and filter every 4000-6000 miles or so with a branded fully synthetic oil (usually Pennzoil Platinum or Castrol Edge OW-20). I have also tried K&N HP-1010, K&N PS-1010, Bosch Premium 3233 and Purolator Boss. I have ordered the Purolator One from Revain about
