The pole is excellent, the mushroom tip is terrible

The pole is very nice. Aluminum, locks well by turning. However, if you use the top of the mushroom to support the lid, it becomes brittle, bends, and cracks VERY easily. I've gone through 2 of them. One ripped during transport, the second almost didn't last long. You really need to get a much better mushroom cap for this pole that isn't as fragile.

Cons
  • Not the best

Many do not understand how to properly install the mushroom cap

In order to properly use the mushroom cap, you need to take a Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the screw. Then use your thumbs to remove the rubber end from the end of the device. The rubber stopper then slides right onto the top and works exactly as it should. The image on the product seems to imply that the mushroom cap simply sits on top of the rubber piece and is somehow held in place by tension. This is incorrect.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Protect boat cover from water damage.

We have a 21.5ft open bow boat. We just had to replace a relatively new boat cover. When it rains, water collects on the cover both in front of and behind the windscreen. This puts stress on the cover and it eventually breaks under the stress. How do I solve a problem? We bought a new tonneau cover, then to prevent the defect from reoccurring, we installed a telescopic support for the boat cover. We used this one for the bow and the heavier one for the cockpit. It was very easy to install andโ€ฆ

Rowing & Sailing Kobbled Crap

The posts appear to be good value for money but the domed part that distributes the load across the lid seems to have been designed for a different diameter post. It doesn't stick to the pole at all. If you stowed your boat in the door, you could balance the coupler piece on top of the pole, but there would be nothing to hold it together, so there's no way this assembly could hold together in the real world. Maybe they accidentally sold all the pillars that came with these domes separatelyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!

  • Unbelievable price

No instructions, socket required

No instructions on how to put the mushroom cap, I would find out in time thanks to those who wrote how to do it. It's not clear what the binding is for. The mushroom cap fits snugly onto the tube. The tube extended and retracted well and stayed taut when tightened. I "installed" the prop tightly under the boat's lid, the base of the prop was on the carpet. It looked great, but the wind and rain must have moved the boat's lid (custom made to fit snugly) so much that the lid support shifted andโ€ฆ

Nicely made and works well

Unfortunately the support post does not come with simple instructions showing that the top "snap mount" can be easily removed and the "mushroom" - end fits into the socket. position so that the rod can support the tarpaulin without being damaged by a sharp pressure point. I replaced the latch (remove the screw holding the latch) with a stainless steel screw. I enlarged the original small screw hole to allow the screw to easily go through the plastic and thread onto the stainless steel nut. Iโ€ฆ
