This is a good introduction to watercolor pencils. They apply a good amount of pigment but aren't as rich as the higher quality colored pencils (like Prismacolor) that I usually use to work with colored pencils. They are definitely designed with watercolor in mind. When the pigment is wetted with a little water and a fine brush, it behaves like watercolor paint and becomes transparent. Beautiful bold colors! You need to keep these pins sharp, but don't press too hard! I've seen some turning points. Overall though, for the PRICE these pens are worth buying! I had so much fun with them! I usually start my drawing with a regular pencil and then go over the lines with watercolor pencils. After that I wet the brush and add a stroke of white acrylic paint.
