Good Student Learning Set

I bought these after reading reviews of many similar products. I wanted something appropriate for an adult artist, but I wasn't willing to afford a quality artist kit. I used to use watercolor pencils, but many years ago. For the price I paid (24 sets for $10) they are sufficient for class or student use. They apply easily to both light and dark applications, but even the darkest application turns out much lighter than expected when applied with a brush and water. I tried reapplying the dry…

A good starter set of watercolor pencils

This is a good introduction to watercolor pencils. They apply a good amount of pigment but aren't as rich as the higher quality colored pencils (like Prismacolor) that I usually use to work with colored pencils. I love the creamy pastel look it offers. Then I add some more watercolor if needed. I would definitely recommend these pens to…

  • Something different

I really liked this box of ESSENTIALS with a dozen watercolor pencils from Royal & Langnickel. Out of the box they look like almost any colored pencil: Twelve colors (purple, red, light green, orange, dark green, yellow, cyan, pink, blue, brown, black and white), pre-sharpened, ferrule enough as an eraser on the other end. In fact, however, they are dense watercolor pencils. Usually, the artist first sketches the lines with a dark pen or pencil, then paints all or part of the drawing, and then…
