1/4 turn broken

Didn't even have time to try it because it broke in half. Now I have to deal with the bleed screw that is halfway stuck in my caliper. BEWARE!

1999 Civic CX, perfect for the rear drums.

If you have a 1999 Civic CX with stock rear drum brakes, this is what you need. This is a pair of 8 x 1.25mm breathers, 24mm long. Uses an 8mm wrench like standard bleeders. Revain claims that part 639610 fits the back of my car but that is not true. This is what you need for your Civic CX with stock brakes.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Some small things

looks good at first glance

good wide key arm; I hope they don't rust and wish they were rust free but they look a lot sturdier than the ones I bought at my local parts store and the wider wrench flats could make them double the price of local sets and of course built in ones. Speed check valve I will critique after I put it on and I believe the diagrams in Russell were correct and they look the same to the eye

Pros
  • easy installation
Cons
  • fits

Too short. on parts

It would be great if they actually fit my car. I bought this model because Revane said it was the right part. They are the right diameter and thread for my calipers and screw in easily. The problem is that they are too short. There's no room for a wrench, especially when the vent hose is connected. Russell makes another model, 639620, which is longer, but I didn't know about it until I tried these.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers

Does what it promises best Wheel cylinder bleed screws

Works I don't know what else to say. You don't have to open them until they come loose. In fact, it destroys the seal on the threads that makes them work. I used them to bleed my own brakes and clutch. Once the system is completely clear, you can screw the drain line back into the reservoir (assuming you KNOW it's clean) and just pump endlessly without refilling until you have the last little bubble. That saved me a lot of time.

Great review made me buy it. SAFETY ?

The bleeding is not dense, there is not enough time to sit down and hold pressure. The owner's review states that he has worked for his GoldWing and is completely satisfied! It is not safe for the person who rated it. Brakes can fail from bleeding brake fluid that doesn't settle. It's about 3/16" shorter and the bleed key sits flush with the caliper. Not enough said about security. A great review made me buy this for my GoldWing.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are nuances

Worked once, now it's broken and stuck.

I thought it was the greatest invention when I first used it. By the looks of it the walls are paper thin and must have either shrunk or corroded in just 8 months of ownership. I used an 8mm wrench to open it 1/4 turn as directed. At 2 the valve broke, half of it was stuck in it. You can try the ORIGINAL Speed Bleeder brand, but not these guys. I contacted Edelbrock support and they told me to buy an extractor and try to remove it. These extractor kits are more than the cost of this product…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use

Good product! good for wheel cylinder bleeder

I am an experienced wrench puller although I only work on brakes for myself and not commercially. From the days when all four corners had drum brakes, I remember one of the most annoying and scary tasks was bleeding the system. Not that it was that hard, but getting good help was hard and it took two to get it right. It's so awesome I had to show it to friends who are professional mechanics who didn't know about it. I had to replace a wheel cylinder on my old Tahoe (11" rear drum brakes - all…
