Too expensive, poor design

The metal is not smooth and sticks to the fibres. The back end, where you stuff string and tape, is also poorly designed. Check out the FIDs from the German company Liros to see how it should be done. I only used the pusher from the set but its handle came off easily. I ended up using Selma feeds to make eyelets on the double braided rope. This product does not match the price.

  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Nothing

One of the worst FIDs on the market

These FIDs are among the worst and most difficult to use on the market. It is very difficult to get the jackets or cores into the feeders and difficult to keep them there without a significant amount of tape. Their only attraction is probably their relatively low cost. I'm surprised this kit bears the name of Sampson Ropes, an otherwise well-respected manufacturer. I sent my set back and replaced it with the widely used and tried and tested Ronstan splice set (55376).

Poor tool kit, suitable for boating

There are many guides on You Tube for splicing double braid line. They all feature fittings with a much longer hollow section for a more secure core or cap attachment. The hollow area on them is so short it's almost useless. I have to glue a long piece of masking tape to attach the cord to the lining, which makes sliding the lining even more difficult. The pointed end of the lining should also be more pointed. The push rod is too long and too weak. I bent it during one of my attempts to push…

Aluminum is not the right material

I knew beforehand but wanted to save money. Bare aluminum is very sticky, like metals. The ultra-thin layer of oxidation that comes with raw aluminum makes working with forage much more difficult than it should be. They are completely tucked into the super-sliding Dyneema line. The logos and markings applied to the surface only make it more difficult. If the company had just anodized them and made them plain, everything would have been fine. Anyway, stainless steel chucks are more expensive and

A small adjustment to the feeds and it becomes a 5-star package!

I've used this many times and it works! Easy to use but don't expect your ropes to be right the first time you use them. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you do, you'll have your set. Reason for 4 stars: Feeds are etched with markings and tend to snag/grab the rope making it a bit difficult to slide easily. inside by the rope. They should be laser engraved rather than engraved, giving you a smoother finish. The price is a bit high for what you get but I understand it's aluminum and…

Samson splice kit review and tips

This is the best splice kit available in my opinion. This kit includes high quality aluminum feeds and a push rod in a beautiful package. The instructions are also very good, although the knotting instructions are always difficult to follow. I recommend the YouTube video hosted by New England Ropes. Combine this with the included Samson instructions and you should have no trouble splicing. Pay close attention to the exact measurements and make sure your lining size matches the rope. Because…

Average value for money Best mooring and anchoring tackle

The quality is very good but this type of feed is disappointing. Because it is a machined aluminum pole, the insertion hole is small, so you need to glue the lining to the rope, which causes more problems. Sure, maybe I just don't know how to use it properly, but that's still a problem with this product BECAUSE IT COMES WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS. The pusher is one thing no one should ever buy. First, you don't need a pusher; You can "milk" the Fida with a rope of any length. But if you still need a…
