Battery dead after 14 months but defective unit replaced

My Comfort Strips battery died after 14 months and I was having a hard time resolving technical issues on the Sensative website to contact someone for support contact me but when I finally got to Sensative they were willing to replace the defective unit. While I think the short battery life of the original device earned the 1 star I originally gave, the company's help in fixing the issue was worth the 5 stars, which puts me in the middle for now. Time will tell if the replacement battery lasts…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Some minor issues

This strip is quite thin and invisible. I clipped it to the edge of my white garage door and my wife didn't notice even after I pointed it out. A few small notes: To save battery power, the bar very rarely broadcasts updates. I've turned off temperature and humidity reports (only use as a light sensor), and even with the report set to 'frequent', it only sends a new light reading when the lux reading more than doubles or doubles the previous reading. In my application this is normal (turning…

Battery died after cooling down

10 year old battery died at the first temperature drop. It wasn't as cold as the -4 degrees Fahrenheit for which the comfort strip was designed. The battery died on Christmas Eve (and the light didn't come on) at around 16 degrees. A week ago I filed a warranty claim with the manufacturer and didn't even get an email confirming my claim. I sent another one tonight and will let you know if things improve. Judging by other complaints about the battery, I'm not hopeful. I received an immediate…

If it could cause frustration, it could just explode.

**UPDATE** After working with support they asked me to check the Z-Wave frequency of the sensor. It turns out that although it was listed as a US 900+MHz Zwave product, I received the UK version (800s frequency due to 900+ frequency restrictions). :: Major Facepalm :: I got Britain back. sensor and try again. This time I got the correct US sensor. It only took 5-10 minutes to pair with my smart things and now everything works fine - the sensor is accurate and responsive. Location. **Original…

Excellent product, best in electrical engineering

OK. I have both and some drip strips. Since there is no difference between them EXCEPT the mounting strip for the humidity sensor, this review covers both types. I also ran both Samsung SmartThings v3 and Habitat Elevation C-5 US-Lower 48 (newest as of this writing). First, these are Z-Wave network bands. For those of you who don't know what that means, YOU MUST HAVE A ***COMPATIBLE*** Z-WAVE HUB TO CONNECT THIS WIRELESSLY TO YOUR USE! this. Hubitat, SmartThings, Wink, whatever. If you have no…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
