Great product and even better service

Works great. If something goes wrong, the customer service is professional and fast. I needed to replace the power supply on my Simplicity pump and they got a new part the very next morning.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • old

Tough Lil Skimmer - Aquarium Pumps and Filters

This skimmer is great for its size. Although it is small for my 90 liters. I should have bought a bigger one. my mistake. But this little skimmer is great for its size. It's probably better for 60 gallons or less. The Skimate pulls very well.

Pros
  • Easy to Install
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Lightweight with little space requirement. Fast break-in

Light weight and small footprint. Chop fast. First enema in a mature tank in less than a week. You'll have to readjust it several times during the first month before you can leave it alone and let go. Replaced a 15 year old Aquamedic Turboflooter 1000 that was finally covered in dust. still happy I've had this for several months. it is practically noiseless.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Compatibility

Works well as a skimmer, Works better as a bubble generator

I've been using it for about 2 weeks and it's working but not as well as some other skimmers I've had. blows tons of bubbles into the tank. Even with a 10 inch baffle I still have bubbles in my tank. I was hoping that break in time would stop it, but it didn't seem to slow down at all. maybe that will change in the future, or maybe i'll just buy a different skimmer. For the money I want I would just buy a more expensive skimmer first.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • needs an outlet

Same or better than popular brands

This skimmer was a great purchase. And the price was way better than the big brands you've all heard about from other vendors and YouTube videos. I've had a few and this thing gushes out the most disgusting thick manure I've ever tasted. If your aquarium is new and you're not getting much, give it time. When your tank is out of a new stage and you keep adding more fish, this thing takes over. My phosphates are 0 from day one and I rest often. I use it on my 50 gallon mixes with a 2 gallon sump.

Began producing the perfect skimmer in just a few days

This skimmer costs less than 200.00. Started producing the perfect skimmer in just a few days. *UPDATE DEC '16* After using the skimmer for almost a year I wanted to update my review. I still like the skimmer, but I do want to mention that the power cord that plugs into the controller is stuck. I'm guessing it's the humidity. If you try to unplug the device, the female end will come out of the housing exposing the wiring. I believe this is an issue with the pump manufacturer as the same thing…

Best skimmer in its price range

I bought this skimmer because a friend had the same one in a 80 gallon multi tank system and it worked great. I trust his opinion on the gear even more. The great thing is that the skimmer comes with a 3 year guarantee. This skimmer really is a workhorse. For the first few days of operation (during the break-in period) and it's already producing a lot of skimming almost to the top, I haven't even adjusted it yet, it's just the 1st stage of the regulator and the damper fully open, very…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities

  • Some issues

Quiet and works great!

Love this skimmer! I have had many skimmers over the past 12 years of reef keeping and none of them have worked as well as the Simplicity. The first thing that catches your eye is the build quality. It's durable and very well built. I'm an acrylic fabricator and I can tell a good weld when I see it. Took about 5 days to break in and now it's really pulling out a good Skimmat. Now I have to empty the cup every other day. The pump runs very quietly - the only noise you hear comes from the air…

Just Terrible: Water Pumps

Aquaria's DC pump idea isn't that terrible but when we start adding additional factors to items like skimmers we add another item that might not work that way Setup much more complicated. In this case the Q/C on the pumps and controllers is terrible. After studying this topic for a month with Simplicity, a new pump, various tests, settings and finally diagrams with my Apex, I came to the conclusion that the pump and controller are rubbish. Strictly speaking, Chinese-made garbage. The included…
