Huge Difference: Slab Casters

I have used traditional locking casters on my workbench before and it was horrible. This made my workbench still portable, but (when powered off) perfectly stable. I have absolutely no regrets installing them. I stacked two 2x6 lumber to make the legs and then attached them to the (flat) underside of my workbench and they are very strong in this configuration. The only remaining problem is that lifting individually is a bit difficult and can cause torque on the base. I deal with this by pulling

Watch out for the toes: Platters

I replaced the platters with these wheels, they give me more maneuverability. While they're cool to use, I have a few concerns, with the caveat that they carry a 400-pound workbench. Firstly, no matter where I put them, on the ends of the legs or on the front and back of the legs, I find myself snagging on electrical cords and hitting the magazine. In addition, these wheels absolutely do not like small dust particles or chips, they constantly slip and stall. This isn't the biggest problem I…

Missing hole, minimum clearance

Overall these extendable workbench casters seem to work well. Here are a few flaws: 1) There was no hole in one of the brackets (see 3 hole photo vs 4 hole photo). This wasn't a fatal error as I could easily drill the hole myself, but why? I'm pretty sure they're made on an automated production line, so I can't imagine how a hole was missed or how many other mounts left the factory with a hole missing. 2) Installing the bracket 1.5 inches off the floor provides minimal clearance on the caster…

Great mobile solution for table saw (and tool cabinet)

I don't have my own workshop so I use my garage when working on DIY projects. The biggest and heaviest thing I own is an old B&D table saw, which is invaluable when needed but just takes up corner space >99% of the time. It has always been difficult to pull a table saw into a comfortable position or to move it to pick up larger items, remove sawdust, etc. When I saw the advertised SOLEJAZZ Workbench Caster kit weighing 660 pounds, I thought so be worth a try. I ordered the set on Monday and…
