Now it stays cold for several cycles: 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. The gel material adheres very comfortably to the body and increases the contact area for thorough icing. I bought this for my sister who had major back surgery and it has worked amazingly. I was first introduced to this brand by my chiropractor and fell in love with it. My sister loved it and used it after surgery and couldn't do without it, at least not as comfortably. I then used it after my hysterectomy and it made a lot of things easier for me. I bought this during a recent bout of sacroiliac pain. It's adjustable enough to fit my stomach with some weight fluctuations. It has a cut-out at the back to cover the sacrum as well as the lumbar region, which is important for those experiencing pain from L4 and below.
