Keeping Up With Cycling

While I haven't tried it in all its forms, the Thomson Elite Bicycle Seatpost has proven to be a worthy replacement for the outdated OEM seatpost that replaced her. In comparison, the overall fit itself is a welcome change, as the old stance made it difficult to focus on the sweet spot in seating placement. The secure buckles, solid construction, reasonable weight and neat looks make it a good buy for my particular bike and application.

Pros
  • Good Thing
Cons
  • Could've opted for a newer model

Best general purpose seatpost I've ever used and I've used it a lot

This is the standard by which all seatposts should be measured. Good looking, easy to use two bolt clamp and impact resistant design. I've used a few (they go away when I sell bikes and I get a new one to replace the OEM item when I buy a bike). I like the flex in the center of the support post more than the rollback as you approach the clamp, but it's an aesthetic thing. Recommended: Buy a suitable stem (X2 or X4).

This seat post is better than the stock

I needed to move the center of gravity back on my new MTB bike to lighten the front wheel. I added a shorter 45mm stem from the stock 90mm stem. added a pair of 50mm rise bars. just had to move the saddle further aft. This Thomson post returned my saddle to where I could get more power out of my cranks due to the lack of knee flexion. This post didn't move my body back as far as I wanted when seated, but I did gain strength in my arm swings. Of course I can pedal and tighten the front wheel at…

The best. Period: Sport

Have used them for many years. Maybe not the easiest, but certainly not the hardest. They may lack the "wow factor" of carbon, but they're more practical and durable, don't require friction paste and aren't much heavier. They may look fairly simple, but after a while you'll realize that minimalism is the ultimate aesthetic and that the highest quality is unconditionally superior to anything else. Adjustment can be tricky at first (basically a slight turn of one screw, then another; repeat), but

  • Quality construction

One of the best posts!

Love this Thompson post! The way it is made is worth every penny of its cost. Unfortunately, after 12 years, the very expensive carbon seatpost began to crack and fail. Luckily for me it didn't break, but I didn't want to tempt fate and get another coal post. The Thompson Post is very easy to set up. To raise the backrest, tighten the rear screw. Do the reverse to raise the nose of the saddle. Front-to-back adjustment is also easy. Simply loosen both screws a little to move the saddle into…

Fantastic craftsmanship

I slowly built my own Hot Rod CX all-terrain bike. With this build, I strive for absolute perfection, so I carefully select each component. The requirements for each component are simple: they must perform extremely well and look fantastic. Next came the seat post. I've been thinking about a few different seatposts for the past few days. Should I switch to carbon? Should I switch to aluminum? Which brand should I take? What color? My research kept coming back to the Thomson, which seems to be…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not everything fits
