Works and doesn't get hot.

I downloaded the latest driver and needed to enable Thunderbolt using the Intel Thunderbolt software built into Windows 10. The device connected quickly and I got a 10GB connection. I've been using it for a while and it gets warm when transferring large files, but not too much. I am happy.

  • Solid build

Does the job but gets very hot

This NIC connects at 10 Gbps and I was able to push about 9 Gbps of traffic through it in both directions (probably limited by either my workstation or server). against which I test). However, it gets very hot even when idling. I measured it at around 120F at idle. It's hot enough that I was afraid to leave it on the computer's plastic case for fear it would crash into the case. Running so hot makes me wonder how much power it's drawing from my workstation. It seems that all variants ofโ€ฆ

It's fast. 10,000 Mbps!

Works with no problems. Use with my USB-C MacBook Pro. No configuration required. Plug it into your computer, the other end into a 10 Gigabit port, and you're moving at lightning speed! It's a bit big and heavy, not to mention pricey compared to the 1GB, but that's to be expected. Prices will come down and size will decrease over time. Thank you Mr Moore.

Sturdy little device

Good quality and strong enough. Too bad I can't test it to the limit as I don't have another computer with 10G for iperf. However, I was able to achieve 3Gb/s transfer speeds when transferring files over 4 1Gb/s connections to Synology. Warning, this little thing gets pretty hot even when not under load. Another issue I'm still trying to figure out, whether it's a driver or my network setup, is that new sessions, be it a website or SMB, take a bit of time if they're "like them are" are usedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • It pisses me off

Easy Setup & Super Fast

I went to two different vendors before I bought "Cable Questions". They all said they were Thunderbolt 3 compatible but I could never get them to work. As soon as I plugged it into the T3 connector, my light came on and my Thunderbolt software recognized it. I am using a Dell Precision 5530 with a TB16 port replicator.

  • I won't say anything

5 Running after firmware update

When I first bought this item, it was very HOT all the time. Terribly hot without a fan. I updated the firmware for this product and now it runs cooler. It's still warm, but not HOT. My laptop stopped freezing when connected to a new firmware. If you experience this problem, please contact the manufacturer's support. Tell them you're working and need a firmware update. If you are ruthless and you know what you are doing. You can do it just like me. I updated my firmware for Cable Matters 10GBEโ€ฆ
