Does not rotate with weight applied.

I bought this to restore a Chevy 454. For a Chevy, this beast weighs 700 pounds. That's less than half of what this stand is designed for. With the engine bolted on and the hoist removed, the front of the engine was 3 inches lower than the rear. It was impossible to turn the motor on the stand with the included handle. In fact, it was impossible to turn the engine at all.

Stronger than I feared.

Update: This held (and moved with ease) a fully faired 5.9 24v Cummins. The stand shows no signs of use or breakage. At that time I had this motor on this stand for several months and no matter what I did, the stand just kept doing its job. Currently my Cummins 5.9 24v (3rd gen) is on it. Somewhere around 1400 pounds fully clothed. holds ok Rolls fine. Haven't tried cranking the engine yet. Good product. Edit: Flipping is an absolute bear. If you're using this on Cummins like me, you'll need a…

Low quality scrap is the best of tools and equipment

Disappointed with this machine stand I thought it would be better than the port freight but as far as I can tell it is actually as bad. The black parts are painted with horrible paint which mostly chipped off when the box was opened and the parts are not painted at all and are rusty. The welds are also of poor quality, but at the level of a typical Chinese one. Plastic bushings on the wheels, one of which was hilariously smashed during installation but I think the worst part was the hole that…

Sturdy and by far the best value for money

Arguably the best stand your money can buy. Much worse seen much more. It is very durable and if I had to complain it would be about 3 things. First I changed all the low quality bolts to grade 8 for motor mounts and 10.9 for metric parts. I'm not betting £750 on class 4.4 hardware. Second, the foldable design has tabs that prevent a plastic drip tray from fitting properly, so I think I'll just cut it off as I don't plan on folding it anyway. Third, the spacers attached to the engine are also…

  • Clarity

I'm building a supercharged 454 Chevy Iron Head engine. Total weight should be around 850-900 pounds. But even with only the long block mounted, the "750#" stand I used slowly sagged; I needed something better. It looks like this will do the job just fine. HEAVY construction, easy assembly, clearly thought-out design. The fact that it basically folds in half for storage is a great bonus. Note: When it arrived the box was CUT, parts fell out. I immediately reassembled it to make sure all the…

Very heavy mode with a wide fit.

Bought to restore BMW V10. We needed a VERY stable platform that could support the length and weight of a V10 or V12 (engines aren't that heavy, but when placed cantilevered they add weight to the stand). The base is wide and many people have trouble loading the engine from the lift. My engine was shipped on a pallet and a forklift/hi-low was raised with the engine on the edge of the pallet and the engine stand to line it up with the engine, then lowered to the floor. Engine onto a…

Heavy construction but wasn't exactly welded.

First of all I like the heavy construction. very well made and easy to assemble. Torin makes some really solid stuff! Second, the price really matches the quality! However, after I assembled it, the frame didn't sit squarely on the floor. After a bit of fiddling, I found that the folding arm wasn't welded directly to the bracket that bolts to the arm via the front rollers. I contacted customer service but they didn't have any individual parts for sale so to avoid risking another "bad" forearm I

Good engine mount.

Nice, solid, easy to assemble stand that looks and feels solid and sturdy. So far we've only used it on the Northstar V8 and the kickstand hasn't shown any signs of approaching its limit - the only problem with this engine is its design. The water pump and upper coolant manifold are located at the rear of the engine. We had to use very long batches and spacers to clear the manifold. But I don't see any engine stands on the web that don't look the same in that regard. It would be nice if the…

Great Stand: Garage & Shop

This is a really good stand! I have LM7 5.3l, no problems. It is very durable and easy to move. I was hesitant based on other reviews but the welds are all solid, the wheels are solid and the parts are straight. The folding option is great for storage when you don't have a motor. I almost thought there weren't any plastic plugs in the kit, but they were hidden in one of the tubes. The only reason I found them was the hose was rattling and when I shook it one came out and then I saw the other…
