clap on clap off - my new review

Really does work as advertised, even if you are not the one making the clap on/clap off noise :-) (my upstairs neighbor can accidentally turn it on or off by dropping something on the floor and it bounces).

Pros
  • The clapper is easy to customize to your specific needs and preferences
Cons
  • The product may not be very compatible with other smart home devices

You need to keep clapping

I guess my hands don't always clap loud enough for the clapper to hear me. I have to get close to it and watch the red lights to see if it heard me. Sometimes I have to clap 5 or 6 times for it to hear all the claps. I have other devices hooked up to the power strip it's connected to, when I unhook them sometimes the light clicks they make activate the clapper. When I'm in bed I'll tap my cell phone on the headboard which activates the clapper, lights on, lights off. I'm glad I got the clapper,

Pros
  • USE THE FORCE - Just plug a lamp, a radio, or any other device into this cool Clapper in the design of Vader's iconic black helmet, and switch it on and off with the power of your bare hands.
Cons
  • The product may not be very intuitive

Misleading product description.

The product is described TWICE as "made in the USA". First, in the short description and again in the features and benefits. Deep in the product page is a details section where it is disclosed as made in china. .Of COURSE it is made in china.as stated on the box.Revain, make the country of origin a searchable parameter for filtering your crappy search results!

Pros
  • The Darth Vader voice is a great way to add a touch of humor to your home automation setup
Cons
  • The product may not have a warranty or guarantee

Gets the job done best in my review

I bought this for my visually impaired husband because it is too difficult for him to find the on/off switch to his bedside lamp. This solved the problem! Thank you!

Pros
  • The Darth Vader voice adds a unique twist to your home automation setup
Cons
  • The product may not be very user-friendly for seniors

Lights out! good for me

My wife applies lotion to her hands before bedtime and that makes it difficult for her to turn off her bedside light. The Clapper makes it a snap, or rather, a clap!

Pros
  • No more fumbling with multiple light switches - the clapper can control multiple lamps or fixtures from a single location
Cons
  • The Darth Vader voice may cause headaches or other physical discomfort

nice but tricky best in my review

I really like it but it is stubborn. Sometimes you have to clap two or three times for it to "work". Other times it is just fine on the first clap.

Pros
  • The clapper is reliable and responsive, ensuring that your lights always turn on and off when you need them to
Cons
  • The product may not have a long lifespan

Easy to use best in my review

After 25 years, our previous one stopped working. We only use it for our Christmas tree. This one is a little different, it seems a bit more sensitive to turn on, but will be just fine for the holidays. Happy to get another one.

Pros
  • It's easy to configure the clapper to respond to claps of different volumes or frequencies
Cons
  • The device may be too sensitive to other sounds in the home, leading to unwanted light switching

Not very accurate good for me

I used this on my bedside lamp to turn on when entering my bedroom. It takes many claps to turn on and off the light. It scared me one night when I was coughing and the light came on! More of a gimmick than working tool.

Pros
  • Enjoy hands-free control of your lights with the clapper's easy-to-use clap detection technology
Cons
  • The device may not be very effective in large, open spaces

Makes life just a tid bit easier

First off I can guarantee you that all the bad reviews come from people who did not read the instructions. This device works just fine, given it doesn't work 100% of the time. Hence the 4 star review. However if you follow the instructions and use it as intended it does work atleast 90% of the time which is far more than you should ask of any equipment that is technically outdated. I have mine plugged in an outlet that is behind a table and blocked by a couch, I sit roughly 10-12 feet from this

Pros
  • The clapper is perfect for creating a movie theater-like experience in your home
Cons
  • It may be difficult to sell or resell the product secondhand

The CLAPPER! - my new review

First off "the clapper” is the first as seen on tv product that I can remember as a kid. As a kid of the 80s I remember the commercials…the light, a Christmas tree, but best of all was the old lady my she Rest In Peace giving the double clap mid roll over to drift off to dreamland! Now we have one! Not just being able to double clap before dreaming of the next time I get to clap the lights on…if I clap just three time I get to hear a voice actor nail his lines of things that were never said in…

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • The product's design may clash with certain decor styles

Was crappy. best in my review

Ordered for my 82 year old mom after she came home from a two week stay in the hospital. It was easy to install but you had to clap really hard to make it work and at times it wouldn’t work even by doing that. Had to send it back.

Pros
  • Enjoy ultimate convenience with the Star Wars Talking Darth Vader Clapper
Cons
  • The product may not be very secure, allowing others to easily turn lights on and off

Bought it as a gift, and my friend loves it!

I bought it as a gift for my friend’s new home. She had a lamp she didn’t use often because it was difficult to get to, but with the clapper she can easily light up the room now. Their 4yo nephew thinks it’s magic, and he loves to clap it on and off when he visits, haha.

Pros
  • It registers claps almost all the time and is simple to set up.
Cons
  • The device may not be compatible with certain smart home systems

Happy they still make these

My daughter didn’t believe me when I said there’s a device that turns the lights on by clapping. Purchased this as one of her birthday presents and now there’s nothing but clapping in the hallway all day…great purchase.

Pros
  • Light Switches
Cons
  • The Darth Vader voice may be too loud for some people

My 84 year old friend asked me to

Acquire this for him so he didn’t have to leave his chair to turn a lamp off when he got sleepy. He remembered them from old TV commercials so it arrived the day after ordering and by the end of that day he had boxed it up for me to return. He said it would take a loud clap of thunder for it to respond and he’d never be able to clap loud enough. I ordered the remote controlled outlet to replace.

Pros
  • No more fumbling with light switches when you have your hands full - simply clap your way to a well-lit room
Cons
  • The Darth Vader voice may become irritating over time

Couldn't pick up my arthritic Mom's claps :-(

My mother has developed arthritis in her hands and was having trouble with the on/off switch on her bedside lamp. Remembering the commercials for the clapper, I bought it for her. It was very easy to set up. Unfortunately her hands are too weak to generate a loud enough clap. We've now rewired her lamp with a sliding switch and I installed the clapper in my room. It is rather nice not to have to fish around in the dark for the switch. I'm just sorry it didn't work for her.

Pros
  • The Darth Vader theme adds a fun, geeky touch to your home decor
Cons
  • The device may not work well with dimmer switches

Convenient to have .

I like this because I can turn on a light in my basement from the top of my stairs . The only thing that surprised me was I did not get a remote control with it . The other one that I used to have came with a remote control which was a bit easier to use from the top of the stairs to turn the lamp on in the basement .

Pros
  • No remote controls for either unit. Not consistent operation.
Cons
  • needs to clap to hard to get it to work

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Bob is very sensitive.

Often, random noises like the dog scratching would activate (expected), but you have to clap loudly and sometimes repeatedly to activate on purpose (annoying).

Pros
  • It works but needs a few claps before it turns on and off.
Cons
  • The wireless connection may be unreliable

An obsolete relic of the past that doesn't have a place in present time. With voice activated devices and wifi controlled light bulbs, it cannot compete. On top of that, it's a hit or miss on it detecting the claps. When you think about it, you have to make very loud claps in the dead of the night hoping it heard all of your claps correctly to activate it, as opposed to motion activated lights, or turning on the lights with your phone or voice, which you do not have to yell or be loud. I got it

Pros
  • Smart home integration means you can control your lights with voice commands or through an app
Cons
  • The product may not be very reliable in extreme temperatures

Overall good good for me

I bought the clapper to control my light switch in my room. My view of this device is this: The Clapper makes good use of limited hardware but is also limited by design decisions. The Good:-It works as advertised-You can control it more silently by knocking on the wall of the outlet its plugged into (this could be seen as bad)-The away function makes it useful for other applications like a proximity switch-There is no LED constantly lit, this makes it good for a bedroom where blinking LEDs are…

Pros
  • Does exactly what it is supposed to do however it hurts.
Cons
  • It may not be compatible with all types of light bulbs

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not for me on my review.

I didn't realize they don't have the "ground hole" or the 3rd hole for the connectors that have that 3rd pin. I happened to need the two outlets for devices that have that type of connector and having to buy the adapter on top of the almost $30 that this thing costs., it's just too much. This device should be worth about $10. I had to send it back, unfortunately!

Pros
  • The clapper is perfect for people who love unique and quirky gadgets that add a touch of personality to their homes
Cons
  • The product may not be very intuitive for guests or visitors to use
