Truck Bed Storage Box: UnderCover SwingCase SC203P for 2015-2020 Ford F-150 (Passenger Side, Black) Review

Everything looked great, install went great until I tried locking the box. It didn't fit my 2018 Ford F-150 Super Crew with a 5 1/2 foot bed. I had to hastily install the latch - I drilled holes to slide the latch forward on the front bracket and also installed washers to remove it from the side of the bed - to make it work. If I didn't have the tool for it, I would return it. Check out the photos.

I am disappointed that the box is so thin. I have a feeling that the rivets warp and/or break when I load them with heavy tools. The bracket on the back does not go through the whole box (see picture). The lid does not open fully when the box is locked. At $200 I think the box itself (not the brackets) should be stronger. When I originally ordered a driver's side box for my 2016 f150 they sent a passenger side box for a Toyota Tundra. The rest of the product was amazing. Works great with my tonneau cover. I also have a bed insert and have seen videos where large sections of the bed insert had to be cut out, but I didn't have to do it at all. This box is a great addition to my Ford F150. Just allow MUCH more time than the YouTube videos suggest if you already have some sort of liner or floor mat installed in your truck bed. This is a lightweight tool box so don't expect it to be full. I installed my hitch complete with the hitch lock, connection cables and a small fire extinguisher and must have reached its limits. Bouncing around the truck, any heavy object will also bounce hard inside the box, releasing the plastic clip securing the release handle and spring on the underside outside the box. It was a good box that worked as advertised. Installation was fairly easy, but I have a recommendation: set the hinge arm loose (it has plenty of room to adjust), install the latch, lower the box and close it. Once the box is in place and the latch is closed, tighten the top and bottom pivot bolts (you will need to remove the box to tighten the middle one). This product was easy to install but I found the instructions a bit misleading. I have a 2017 F-150 with a factory liner. The instructions say I need to trim the lining, but that's not true. I used a 3/8" spade bit to drill holes in the liner to match the factory pre-drilled holes in the mounting position. Where the weight retention brackets are, I just had to cut the liner to allow easy access to the bolts that hold the locking bracket in place, fitting neatly behind the mounting brackets…

Bought this for my 2018 Raptor after realizing there wasn't much separate storage in the truck despite it being huge. I paid for a luxury truck, so I don't like having things rattling around in the cab or bed other than trips to the hardware store. I wanted a good storage solution for small to medium-sized items, but didn't want to sacrifice the floor space my SuperCrew offers by adding under-seat storage. TLDR works great.
