Reference Design: Networking Products

I have used many 4-port hubs and several 7-port hubs. This Belkin hub is by far the best I've tried. The stackable hub is ideal for dual-use USB applications for permanent and temporary connections. The 5 ports on the back of the hub can be used for printers, mice, keyboards and more, devices that are permanently connected to your PC. The two terminals face up and are well spaced from each other and the hub frame. I find them perfect for my iPod Shuffle, USB sticks and VPN USB dongles. This hub

Hub is poorly designed and overheats

Thanks to some of the other reviewers for pointing out that the problem with this model is probably the device overheating and then shutting down. Take a look at the case: there isn't a single vent hole or way to dissipate heat from the case. It's made of soft plastic that doesn't conduct heat well. Something should come out of the top USB stick ports for the keys as mine actually do feel a little hot when removed from there. Based on the top secret fact (unknown to electronics designers or…

Same thing happened to me - I have a Dell 8400 with XPPro SP2 and a Maxtor external USB hard drive - I have all of them six uses USB ports that came with the Dell unit but when I added the Belkin F5U237 hub everything worked fine until I rebooted it - then nothing but sadness! I replaced the hub hoping it was defective as I really liked the top two pluggable ports - same thing happened with the replacement - after some experimentation I removed all USB connections from my computer (e.g. MS Ofc-

Totally reliable

I've had several bushings in the past and never felt they worked reliably. There will always be a device that suddenly stops communicating, sometimes affecting other devices connected to the hub. Two of these hubs have been connected to my PC (HP Media Center 1050y) with 11 devices connected for a year. I have a combination of USB 1.0 and USB 2.0 devices and they all work great. I found the hubs so reliable that I connected my external hard drives to them rather than directly to the USB ports…

Well designed hub

I have a few of these - 7 ports seems needed now with so many devices connecting to USB Pros: 1) The hub provides easy access to a few ports. For some reason this feature is incredibly hard to find and I have multiple devices that travel so accessibility is good. 2) it works fine - no problem. Cons: 1) Not that it's a huge downside, but the hub does get very hot, especially when stacked on top of each other. Regarding the previous comment about all LEDs glowing when the power is turned on…

Attention iPod Shuffle users!

I was looking for an always-on hub to use as an iPod charger. One person's dislike causes joy in another! The always-on feature might seem silly, but it's a great feature for people who might use it as a charger. This is the ONLY hub that allows us to connect and disconnect the hub (to or from it) with ONLY ONE hand. All others require you to leave the hub or hub velcro on the table, which is a sticky situation indeed (in more ways than one). I highly recommend this model.

Well designed, stylish and reliable

Almost every peripheral or device that can be connected to a PC today uses a USB port, from printers to mice, external drives, PDAs, wireless adapters and flash memory . It won't be long before the top of your desk disappears under a tangled mess of cables. Personally, I got to a point where my old 4-port 1.0 hub and two 2.0 inputs on my laptop just couldn't handle it anymore. And I didn't want a second hub to add to the clutter in my home office workspace. Additionally, the widespread adoption
