Take a look at the case: there isn't a single vent hole or way to dissipate heat from the case. It's made of soft plastic that doesn't conduct heat well. I have a few of these - 7 ports seems needed now with so many devices connecting to USB Pros: 1) The hub provides easy access to a few ports. I was looking for an always-on hub to use as an iPod charger. One person's dislike causes joy in another! The always-on feature might seem silly, but it's a great feature for people who might use it as a charger. This is the ONLY hub that allows us to connect and disconnect the hub (to or from it) with ONLY ONE hand. All others require you to leave the hub or hub velcro on the table, which is a sticky situation indeed (in more ways than one). I highly recommend this model.
