Insanely strong. almost a fuse!

I used an oyster knife from the grocery store for emergencies. He bent down and I stabbed myself. That was the impetus to buy this knife. Unfortunately, every time I take it to friends, it stays there. So I bought 4 of these and love them every time. Just try to bend the blade. Insanely strong

Wow what a strong knife

Just started shelling oysters and needed a knife for every day. I had no idea how important this little guy would be to my gear. Very durable, wish it was a little thinner but it does the job! I've thrown away a few hundred oysters and it's more than worth it.

  • Acceptable

Find the right blade for your oyster. Works perfectly.

I used to have trouble with homemade oyster knives in Louisiana, and it wasn't an easy task. That knife? Insert the curved tip into the joint of the Long Island oysters I have now and twist them, wow. I think I know what I'm doing! I can't think of what could make it better. Designed to open small Long Island oysters. You have a lot of blades when opening big oysters like these Louisiana monsters. Get a blade to match your oysters.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others

Great knife, large selection of blades.

I bought two of these knives with different blade shapes - one for me and one for my wife. We are both experienced oyster eaters and know what we value in a good knife. This is the best I've ever used. The steel is good, they don't flex or twist too much if you use them for leverage or heel turning, and they look good too. Hell, just last week we ate a bushel of fried oysters way faster than people with cheap knives. I would buy it again, but I don't have to.

Attention oysters! - Kitchen and dining room

I was looking for an oyster knife that would allow me to easily shell an oyster shell AND cut the muscle out of the shell. All the other knives I've tried have been good at one, but not both. I was so happy when I first used this knife. it fit comfortably in my hand and I had no problem getting the point through the hinge and pulling out the top shell, also cutting muscle with this knife. When you look at the blade, it doesn't look or feel too sharp where you would worry about cutting yourself…

Oysterboy to OysterMAN

Before I bought this tool I was a failure trying to impress the ladies with my oyster shaving skills. Shrapnel, body wounds, whatever. It just wasn't nice. When I first took it out of the box it looked like it was attached to my side as I fought alongside King Arthur and his Sarmatian knights. It's beautiful - the engraving is clean, the steel is highly polished, the handle is strong but tactile. A slight bend near the New Haven-style tip makes it easier to open and cut the muscles in the…

An oyster knife to wield if you only have one.

I'm not a professional fisherman but I used to work at a cheese bar and I'm good at shellfish. Having tasted many oysters in my life, I can tell you that this is a great all-purpose oyster knife. Its size and shape make it great if you only have one. I also have another Victorinox 4" Boston Style oyster knife (see my review for that) that I like, but I use this one more often. Open that stubborn shell. Do yourself a favor and grab this oyster knife AND a pair Cut resistant kevlar for pulling…

Cons
  • Makes me nervous

!). We found this knife easy to use, but it was difficult for ONE person to shell oysters for TWO (plus our baby, so THREE). We decided to order another cleaning knife but found it VERY difficult to use (the tip didn't curve as nicely as this one). We then ordered a DIFFERENT paring knife, but found the blade too thick and difficult to insert. My husband might use a different one (he likes a thick handle) but like Goldilocks, I'm sticking with THIS Victorinox knife - it fits EXACTLY. The gentle

The thin blade design works best with a slightly different technique

The very thin blade tip of this Boston-style take on the oyster knife feels fragile - my knife tip is quite slightly bent after the first use on a dozen oysters . However, this unique knife has many benefits if you adjust the extraction technique a bit. I believe it can be a solid and reliable knife if you're willing to pay attention to putting the blade right into the loop. a bit more than you normally would - with a slight sideways motion rather than twisting around the handle - the thin…
