Zoo Med Betta Log that Floats Review

I read some reviews and decided to buy and try it myself. Since some people have said it can peel, I put it in a sealed plastic bag with purified water (the chemicals were removed from the faucet with Prime Seachem). I washed it with warm water and almost immediately after I put it in my aquarium the substance leached out (similar to milk) for a while. I had this floating log for about a month and a half and my betta loved it! He fell in love with her instantly and loved swimming and hanging out in her. Yesterday I noticed the filter outlet was pushing it down so I moved it back to the center of the tank and it started sinking! I have no idea how or why considering it's a solid piece.
