Poor quality/marriage.

Hose connections use a poor crimping method that allows the hose to rotate. Because of this you can't tighten it enough to close the spark plug hole and if you tighten it you can't unscrew it because the tube rotates, which happened to me. I had to pull the tubing out of the crimp and use the easy way out to get the connection out. Also there is no suitable adapter for my b18c spark plug. I had to use an adapter from my compression gauge.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Not bad

Second cylinder broken

Bought to do a leak test. I tested the first cylinder and got some strange readings. I don't know how they calculate the % column but it seems wrong. I put it in the second cylinder (I used the M14 thread, so without a grommet), the hose snapped and just rolled into the fitting. I hardly applied any force to it and it broke. Eventually the hose was removed from the fitting and he was able to puncture and unscrew the fitting, but it was PITA that came out. Needless to say, I would not recommend.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Functionality

Does not fit in the spark plug hole

Ready-to-use hose fitting the size of my spark plug hole does not fit (thread was dirty). I replaced the hose with my own compression test hose that had a working spark plug fitting. The rest of the unit worked flawlessly. Make no mistake. When you buy cheap tools, you get what you pay for. However, if you take your time and use the tool carefully (the way it is), it works well! If you are looking for a quality snap-on level tool, buy a snap-on tool. If you're looking for an inexpensive tool…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Compatibility

Do not buy! Not worth the risk! Please read

Like many others, I'm always interested in getting the best bang for your buck. Especially on instruments that I use little or only to a limited extent. I figured that hopefully I wouldn't use the leak tester too often as that usually indicates you have some sort of problem. However, it was necessary for the troubleshooting I'm doing on the Turbo E30, so I took the plunge and decided it was worth the savings to buy a cheaper tool. Big mistake! It all started as a good Sunday afternoon getting…

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Hose is stuck in my engine

This tester worked absolutely fine the first time I used it. easy to use, good controller, easy to read gauges, no complaints. However, the second time I used it, the hose got stuck in my motor. be rotated freely with very little resistance. I desperately tried to unscrew it the same way as before and it actually spun freely and the threaded part got stuck in my motor. I tried various ways of unscrewing it with no success until I decided to cut the quick connector off the other end of the hose.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Faulty
