Works on my ride-on mower as an on-board companion

Please note that this device is not designed for very large batteries. This is the main reason for my rating. I tried this on a large marine battery and it charged to 17V. I was about to go back until I came back and found that Schumacher didn't rate this for large batteries. When I tried it on a few small tractor batteries it worked great and charged perfectly. Also, you'll find that this thing is feather light, like it has no guts. However, if it lasts like other Schumacher stuff I have, then

Cons

Works well but the power cord is too short

I've been using the device for a few months now. I have it on my F150 truck. During the time I installed the charger I had to leave the truck idle for a week and had several freezing nights. I know from experience that I would have problems without a charger. It's definitely good for my purpose. My only objection is that the power cord is too short. I had to get a 1m outdoor extension cord to get the plug through the grille. I sealed the joint under the hood with 1" gorilla tape.

Buyers beware of tools and equipment

Installed on friend's lawn mower, appeared to be charged/serviced. The device turns on and turns green after a while. So I figured he was doing what he was supposed to. When I came back later it showed charging again, even with the battery disconnected it didn't stay in maintenance mode. Changed batteries, same result. The voltage did not change regardless of whether the device was connected to the network or not. I have a similar device on the mower, it has been working fine for several years.

Excellent Quality - Tools & Equipment

I bought one for my 2004 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. We live on the northern border of Minnesota and often suffer from terrible winter colds. Ease of installation. I only drive the truck about once a week and my battery is five years old. After charging overnight, the truck overturned as if the battery were new. Mounting holes make it easy to attach to the frame. I wish the cord was a foot longer, but performance wise this device is great. By the way, the air temperature on the day I started the car was

Keeps my battery fully charged!

Works great! I haven't been driving much lately, so I found my car battery was dying between rides. This makes it convenient to just pop open the lid and plug it in to keep it fully charged. Apparently my battery was also slightly sulfated and this charger's auto desulfation mode took care of that. I've been checking my battery regularly with a meter and now that it's hardened, day after day the voltage doesn't drop as quickly as it used to. I dropped the star because the installation is an…

Your car (boat, tractor, plane... whatever) starts when you need it!

I have installed two of these devices in cars that are rarely driven. If they sit long enough, the battery charge will drop to the point where the car won't start. Then you have to start it. If this happens enough times, the battery will be destroyed and you'll have to shell out for a new one. These "Maintenance Batteries" keep batteries fully charged without overcharging or damaging them. There are some inconveniences of plugging an extension cord into the device and then unplugging it before…

This product is useless

This is the third time I have bought this product. It works fine the first time. The last two times I bought this product it didn't work. The company requires that we submit an RMA form and a scan of the front and back of the product in order to receive a replacement. The product is black with dark gray letters (very small) on the back. Several scans turn black. They replied that I am SOL if no usable scan is sent. The reason they told me the items didn't work was because the item was pushed…

Just what you need to load up and get your Hangar Queen ready to go.

I have a Harbor Freight Charger 99857 on several vehicles and it works fine, but this item is no longer sold in California. I'm assuming it's the plumb bob, but who knows? I bought this similar Schumacher unit for my next car. Although their specs and looks are similar, I find the Schumacher SC1300 clearly superior. In the event of a power failure, the Schumacher charger disconnects from the battery via a relay, while the HFT charger slowly discharges it via the status LED. The SC1300 has a…
