Good NAS for home use

I bought this to replace my Iomega ix2-200 NAS which was very slow. I installed 2 Western Digital Red drives, plugged them in and they started working almost immediately. Mirroring was set up automatically (it took several hours to format the drives properly). When the discs were ready, I transferred a bunch of media files from another server. It took a long time - ten years of digital photos, films and over 400 music albums. After all this was done, it worked very well. I can stream music and…

Various issues affecting the product

I've been using it for over 3 months now. The initial setup went well. I mainly use this to store all family photos and videos with RAID redundancy and accessibility for all our family members. Actual access is infrequent - it can take a month between uses. A few annoying issues despite little use: 1) More than once when we try to access it, it's no longer visible on the network, even with Netgear's discovery tool. None of their troubleshooting options work and it doesn't even respond to the…

  • No

I've waited a bit to write a review. The device offers excellent performance and is loaded with features that you would only expect from more expensive devices. Snapshots, iSCSI, NFS and more. The little programmable backup button on the front is great too, you can create your own task "macro" that does pretty much anything with the press of a button. Additionally, you can create tasks based on various other triggers such as: B. according to a certain schedule or something else. My only…

Hard to beat at this price

It might not be the most advanced NAS firmware on the planet, but considering the price, this is a pretty good device for the average home user who needs files 24/7 Access. Without spending more money I don't think you can beat him. The lack of HD rotation speed is a bummer, as others have said, and the cloud capabilities leave a lot to be desired, but if all you want to do is share this device on your Windows-based home network, it will do the job just fine. 2 Iomega 2TB media servers, one as…

Easy setup and high performance

I purchased a diskless version of the ReadyNAS 102 to replace an old ReadyNAS Duo that I have had for several years. I was hoping that this new 2-bay consumer NAS would be similar to the older DUO in terms of setup. In the end I found the installation quite easy to understand. As someone not very familiar with networking equipment, the instructions are sparse but effective. Within a day I moved 2 of my own hard drives (2TB each), reformatted and got them working with RAID redundancy…

So far so good - NAS torture test

Brief background: I use this server as the main server for my home network, which runs two HTPCs (Home Theater Personal Computers) and all media content is stored on this US. Four tablets also pull DLNA media from this server. A HTPC works all day with my kids at home. I also use this server remotely as my personal cloud, so it works. This NAS is in a fireproof safe in my garage. The temperature in the safe rises 10 degrees Fahrenheit from Google's recommended server room to 32 degrees…
