works great! Well I don't really have anything to calibrate it with but if you're like me and just have some cheap CB gear this will at least get you started. As everyone says, the instructions that come with it make a pretty good kindling, but no more. This is a common model though, just search "SWR tuning" and half the YouTube videos that come up use this radio. The only complaint I have is the fragility of the small field strength antenna. My cat managed to rip it off in about 10 minutes. Although I'm not sure if it's necessary - the readings don't seem to have changed much. If you're trying to decide between this and a PDC1 or similar 1-gauge meter, I really haven't used a field strength meter that often. . This was moderately helpful in figuring out why an antenna was producing a weak signal, but no more. They'll probably use the left side one day if I knew I'd save just $7 and go for a simpler model. Look at your coaxial cable.
