Inaccurate - Low Reading

Gauge Reading Low 55 psi. Consistent but low compared to Artisan and Lyle. Returned it and replaced it with a Lisle for a few bucks more. If you don't care about the actual count and just want to see the difference between cylinders, this might work. Its hose is very flimsy / cheap rubber which I can't imagine. Ultimately, I need a sensor that actually measures what it's supposed to measure, so this instrument isn't for me.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • No Power

Works as it should: diagnostic, test and measurement tools

Works as expected. I bought this to test EJ257 compression in my STI and it gave me the information I needed to get the dealer to actually fix my car. I had very low compression in one cylinder and this tester was priced right to get the compression reading and get Subaru to actually replace my engine. Previously the dealer claimed there were no codes and the engine was fine but this tester worked great and allowed me to go back to him and show him that there were bad rings in a cylinder

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Quality

Not exactly. The images show the error

Doesn't read correctly. Using a brass-ended rubber hose to connect to the pressure gauge will leak at the connection, resulting in inaccurate readings. When I switched to an all-aluminum tube with a rubber tip, the pressure increased. After further research I saw that the end of the aluminum tube that connects to the pressure gauge is slightly longer than the rubber hose with the brass connector that connects to the pressure gauge, creating a tighter seal. The illustration shows how muchโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Cannot handle 150psi+ pressure

On the first compression test that checked the 4th cylinder on a Mercruiser 3.0L, the hose burst at 150psi+- at the connection point with adapters. Not sure if this product can handle the 300psi listed. I would recommend buying products that have separate hoses from ATTACHED adapters as this product will disconnect from the attached adapter if removed after testing and you will have to "fish out" the adapter. The 3.0-liter Mercruiser motor didn't have enough clearance to remove it with aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Dull packaging

Kit came with one part broken during production

One of the test parts had its rubber fitting torn off in the kit. Apparently when assembling the part, the nipple was clogged too badly, causing the tip to simply snap off. He understands that this is an extremely cheap kit, but at least don't destroy the parts during production. FYI, there is a check valve in the gauge, which means it will read the maximum PSI reading the gauge reads until you release the pressure stored by the gauge. Button. This is perfect if you want to know the maximumโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • High price
