Defective tensioner element

Tensioner seized after 16,500 miles, resulting in engine valve failure. $2,000 to fix the car. DO NOT BUY THIS. You will regret it. See other reviews.

Pros
  • Die-cast aluminum technology reduces size and weight
Cons
  • Appearance

Belt tensioner binding and bent valves after V-belt breakage

Avoid this like the plague. The idler pulley only lasted 9 months and 15,000 miles before it seized and destroyed the valves. I usually get fantastic genuine parts from Aisin. what happened to it

Pros
  • Improved housing design and carbon ceramic mechanical seals prevent leaks
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Made in Korea, not China.

This is the second time I've used Aisin kits. I can't remember where the belt is made, but it's not China. All other parts are made in South Korea. The belt is separate from the other parts and everything is very well packaged to avoid damage in transit. In addition, the installation guide is simple and clear.

Pros
  • Mitsubishi Genuine Timing Belt
Cons
  • Not bad

Tensioner jams at 43,000 km - do not buy this item!

This kit was carefully installed and the car has driven approximately 27,000 miles (15 month long drive). Suddenly the idler pulley jammed, causing the belt to skip a few teeth, and indeed the car stopped and wouldn't start. Aisin is considered a premium brand. The delivery of such poor quality bearing is unforgivable. Others have made similar comments. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this set!

Pros
  • The specific engine water pressure is achieved without undue stress on the engine
Cons
  • Very expensive

Appears to be good quality.

As other reviewers have said, this isn't exactly a high performance model made from genuine Hyundai material. However, these items from a Hyundai dealer are ridiculously expensive in comparison. The main problem in this area is knowing if you have an original product. There was a broken Gates timing belt which after 50km was completely cracked and worn out. Real Gates should be approaching 150km. Pretty sure it was fake. When fellow mechanics bought a fake from a popular auto parts store…

Pros
  • Matching original equipment intermediate and idler bearings
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Misleading Kit NOT All Aisin Components

Buyer Attention, I have been led to believe that I am receiving all Aisin components in this 'kit' as listed on the Aisin shipping box as they are in the water are pump box. The belt looked decent, thick and with Mitsuboshi markings. As you can see from the smaller packaging; Tensioner pulley, tensioner and tensioner bearing - PHC (Valeo). After countless hours of installation and triple checking my work, the tensioner and tensioner bearing had to be removed and reinstalled 5 times as it was…

Pros
  • Installation Type: Vehicle Specific
Cons
  • Drill Kit
