Installation Nightmare

"How To Install" video is missing to say the least, it reminds me of all home/car repair shows, they do something in 2 days or 1-2 hours and just showing the obvious steps where all the actual work took 4 weeks. I STRONGLY recommend NOT buying this kit unless you are doing a full restoration with the cab removed etc. The kit is definitely a quality product, installation is a grade A nightmare. Go Nylon.

Be prepared to spend some time with it

The sections along the frame rails were very easy to install. The section to the engine was a little painful. The advice for those who do is to lower the rear of the gearbox. This considerably simplifies the removal of old lines and the installation of new lines. Also, the nut holding the mount is 13mm. Be prepared not to waste time on this. It wasn't 1-2 hours like Dorman says. I also had to trim the steam line to keep the braided hose from twisting. On the other hand, it is much simpler than…

Excellent plumbing - fuel system

Good quality plumbing, fittings fit well. There were no leaks. The assembly of the rear and middle parts of the kit is very easy. Installing the front section leading to the engine is a nightmare. On the back of the engine, above the gearbox, less than an inch between the bulkhead, is a bracket that holds the lines. Good luck implementing these on 4x4 models. I used a long chisel and air hammer to loosen the hanger because I could NOT get power outlets near this hanger. It took me almost half…

What a mess. - lines

where to start? First, there are no instructions. They didn't explain at the time that most of the hardware from the old lines had to be retained in order to install with their lines. Therefore, all rail mount bolts and top rail clamps must be reused. The problem is that stock clips don't work with their line. I called and my only option was to purchase another full set of leads as clips are not sold individually. A line set costs $255. I'm missing the o-ring that goes to the 3/8 line that goes

Excellent quality! in strings

I used this kit on my 2003 Silverado Extended Cab 4WD. It was fairly easy to fit, but it was a real pain to get to the bracket that bolts to the gearbox and hoses on the tank. For those planning on doing it myself I had to use a 1/4" deep 13mm head with a universal and extension rods (I tried a 3/8 drive but found I wasn't getting enough had room, a socket with a universal was too long and the fuel lines prevented me from accessing it) to remove the nut from the transmission bolt and a long pry

It can be done, but not easily.

2003 Silverado 4 wd . If you give up easily, don't take this job. Remove the fuel pump relay, run the engine until it stalls. 13mm. Or a half inch box end wrench, stand on something so you can reach the screw on the back of the engine and remove the PCV valve from the valve cover. You have to feel for the bolt, it's not visible. I tied the rope to the wrench and lowered it with my other hand and finally put the wrench on the bolt to loosen the bolt. Under the truck, unscrew the front drive…

The product may be good, but the installation is a nightmare!

It would be a good product if you could install it. While the cross-sectional aspect of the product helps with installation, there is absolutely no way, NEVER, to maneuver the front into place. So unless you plan to remove the engine or cab from the truck, this is a worthless product. The two-minute YouTube tutorial video is also completely useless. The video shows an installation time of one to two hours; not even close! Apparently there is a mounting bolt on the gearbox that needs to be…

  • High test results for hold and durability

  • Some difficulties

Horror, horror, horror! Dorman WTF

You cannot install this without removing the entire cab. Yes, I mean the whole cabin! GM installs these fuel lines on top of the transmission. This kit is just a copy with some connectors to make the fuel lines in sections. Like me, you're probably thinking I can just plug it in and tighten the hardware. No sir! You need to remove the front driveshaft. Somehow you have to remove the hidden nut from the top of the gearbox. I did it with a very long overtime. It took forever! Now I can't put the…
