It was easy to install on the armrest pad of the original center console cover. Simply slide the seats forward, remove the 2 long plastic screw covers to remove the hinges, 4 small cap screws and pull up. Then, using a whole handful of Phillips screws, unscrew the bottom of the old cover and attach the old gasket to the new steel bottom plate. This item is just what I needed to fix the broken center console cover on my 2001 Explorer Sport Trac. The all-metal construction will last much longer than the OEM plastic part it replaces. Once installed, my center armrest is much sturdier and ready to lean back on. I want to mention this when pulling out the old block. , there is an axis on which the old one rotates.
