Frigidaire WF2CB PureSource2 Filtration System Review

I have replaced my fridge water filter myself for the past few years and this is the first time I have received a defective item. After removing the old filter and installing a new one, water did not flow from the dispenser. I put the old one back in and the flow returned. Bought previously and it was fine but just replaced and after running about 10 gallons the water was snow white compared to clean tap water. Not sure if it's safe but very frustrating I seem to have to use half the life of the filters just to fill them up. I have had a Frigidaire fridge for 8 years and had to order my 16th filter change. The previous devices have fitted and worked perfectly, but the manufacturer has changed something in the design that does not allow the filter to snap into place.
