We love our Garmin!

We borrowed a GPS on one of our previous trips and it made navigation so much easier and the overall trip less stressful that we knew we had to buy one for ourselves . I did a lot of research online before deciding on this model and we used it straight away - I had to charge it for hours first and as other reviewers have pointed out it does NOT come with a cord that you will be using . You have to charge it inside - you'll have to buy a wall charger - or a special cable that lets you charge it…

No lane assist, works fine

I bought this for traffic functions and upgraded my nüvi 260W. Haven't tried it yet, but I understand that accuracy depends on local reports, not nüvi. They are very similar. The software works a little differently, but figuring it out isn't a problem. Living in Nova Scotia, Canada, I noticed that the direction to my house looped me back off and along the main road. Not good. Friends with Tom Tom had no problems. The Nuvi has the option to use either US miles or Canadian kilometers, which is…

The good, the bad, and the ugly

The good: I got this device last week, it works great, I don't need bluetooth or traffic, I need a GPS that calculates routes fast, and this device does it it very good. It's very easy to use and gives great advice on next turns etc. The Bad: When I first got it the calculated route between my home and work was perfect, I have 16 miles to work and I wanted that test device and familiarize myself with it before my upcoming vacation in Arizona. After a software update from Garmin's website, the…

The screen went blank during a 600 mile drive!

I bought it when it first came out for $299. Great combination of features, I particularly like the street name reading, widescreen, speed limit and lane assist because they really minimize the time you take your eyes off the road. didn't say street names which meant you had to take your eyes off the street. I don't really like the trend of adding unnecessary bells and whistles like an MP3 player, 3D building view, intersection view, voice commands (how could that be anything other than a…

Loading problems: Pocket GPS devices

I've been using this GPS for a few weeks now and when it's fully charged it's just great. The voice is loud and clear, the maps are accurate and detailed. It quickly acquires satellites even in sub-optimal conditions such as trees or tall buildings nearby. It's easy to program and the on-screen menus are user-friendly. It's thin, relatively light and portable, and has a large screen. But it has one major problem: the cigarette lighter charging system doesn't provide enough power to charge the…

Very good GPS, but you may be disappointed

The Garmin nuvi 1350 is a very good GPS overall. A full owner's manual is not included and must be downloaded from the Garmin website. The package includes a quick start guide. One thing that isn't clearly explained is that you really need to take the device outside and get a satellite signal before attempting to do anything else. Mine was unable to receive a signal inside or near my home due to trees and other obstructions. When I tried to view the map, the map insisted I was in Taiwan, when I

Not sure which star to give

Whenever tech companies insist on hype, products require more effort than they're worth. Started with a wonderful smaller version when they first came out many years ago. Through no fault of Garmin, if you spill enough liquid on computerized equipment, it will eventually die. That led me to this model, since the little one was discontinued. I'm out and about in a van all day calling for service so I need something compact that isn't in this one compared to the original. Oddly the same size is…
